The Greek Freak suffered an injury in the opening minutes of first quarter.
The Milwaukee Bucks hosted the Detroit Pistons for an NBA 2025-26 regular season clash on Thursday, December 4. This was the second time both teams came up against each other in the current season. And, considering how the Pistons recorded an easy win in their previous encounter, the hosts were aiming to avenge the defeat and level the tally before they meet again on Saturday. However, during the game, the Bucks received a major setback in the form of injury to Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Just three minutes into the first quarter, Antetokounmpo suffered a non-contact injury and fell to the ground. He delivered a jump pass for an assist to his teammate and Bucks guard AJ Green, and fell to the floor while trying to get back on defense. The Greek Freak remained on the court before checking his right leg. He was eventually helped get off the court by his teammates and walked to the bench before limping to the locker room.

Soon after he walked out, the Milwaukee Bucks made an official announcement regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo’s injury. ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported that he was diagnosed with a right calf strain, before the franchise officially ruled him out for the remainder of the game. Notably, before leaving, the two-time NBA MVP dropped two points and grabbed one rebound while dishing out one assist.
It is to be noted that he missed four games last month with a left groin strain. However, the nine-time NBA All-Star played the last three games before the Pistons’ clash. He has been his usual best-self in the current season, averaging 30.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game through 16 appearances. Talking about the Bucks, they are 9-13 in the current season, seeded 11th in the Eastern Conference.
