The group stage of FIBA EuroBasket 2025 wrapped up with drama, upsets, and a few surprises that reshaped expectations heading into the knockout rounds. With 24 teams trimmed down to 16, the tournament now shifts to Riga, Latvia, where every game becomes a win-or-go-home battle.
Defending champions Spain were eliminated in a shock loss to Greece, while Turkey and Germany emerged as the only unbeaten teams from group play.
Lithuania and Latvia will clash in a Baltic derby, while Italy faces Slovenia in a showdown packed with star power. Serbia, led by Nikola Jokic, will take on Finland, and France meets Georgia in a game that could go either way. The Round of 16 is set to deliver some of the most competitive basketball of the year.

The final phase of the tournament will be played entirely in Riga, with the Round of 16 tipping off on Saturday, September 6 and continuing through Sunday, September 7.
From here, the eight winners will advance to the quarterfinals, scheduled for September 9 and 10, followed by the semifinals on September 12. The championship game and third-place match will take place on Sunday, September 14, when a new European champion will be crowned.
