Derik Queen, the former Maryland Terrapins’ center, is expected to be among the top ten picks in the NBA Draft 2025. Having finished his sole college season averaging 16.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, Derik Queen hails from Baltimore. He picked up the game when he was in kindergarten, and since then, has never been away from the ball. Queen started his career when he went to the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore.

He transferred to Montverde Academy and had a 20-point and 20-rebound debut game against Manhattan. With this, he became the first Maryland player to achieve the feat since 1995. His career in Montverde Academy was nothing short of remarkable. In the 2023-24 season, he led his team to an undefeated 33-0 record averaging 16.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He was named in the MaxPerps Second Team All-American for helping his team win the Chipotle National Championship.

In his college career, the 20-year-old scored 31 points against Michigan in the semifinal of the 2025 Big Ten Tournament. It was the most-ever points scored by a Maryland freshman in the tournament. Eventually, he earned an All-Tournament Team Selection.
