Denver Nuggets Land Tim Hardaway Jr. On One-Year Deal, Secure Sharpshooting Depth

The Denver Nuggets have entered a critical offseason window with major roster changes already underway. Given how the Nuggets finished their season, it became vital for the front office to reinforce the roster around Nikola Jokic. And with the way they are currently moving, the fans remain optimistic.

Tim Hardaway Jr. becomes the Nuggets’ latest signing in a rapidly evolving offseason. The former Detroit Pistons’ became free agent recently after his 4 year contract worth $75 million expired. Tim has signed a one year deal with Nuggets worth $3.6 million.

Hardaway Jr. saw his role shrink in Detroit, prompting him to explore a fresh opportunity elsewhere. He averaged 28 minutes during the 2024-25 season but managed to score 11.0 PPG, 2.4 RPG, and 1.6 APG shooting 40.6 percent from the field.

The guard will provide depth to the Denver Nuggets’ roster given their offensive woes. The Nuggets crashed out of the Western Conference semifinals against the OKC Thunder in the game 7.

Roster Revamp Underway at Jokic’s Request

Nikola Jokic’s pressure on Nuggets brass appears effective, with the team rapidly reinforcing their roster around him. Frustrated with management, Jokic’s discontent led to the exit of head coach Malone and GM Calvin Booth just before the playoffs.

Under Ben Tenzer, the Western Conference side has recently acquired the services of Cam Johnson from the Brooklyn Nets. This exchange deal involved Michael Porter Jr. going to the other side with a 2032 unprotected first round pick.

Denver’s heavy reliance on Jokic has long been a weakness, and it contributed to this season’s playoff downfall. The Serbian is double and sometimes triple guarded, however, lack of urgency from other players has time and again let down the offense.

With added depth and scoring options, Jokic may finally get the support he needs to lead another title run.
