Danny Wolf, the former Michigan power forward, began his basketball journey with Lake Forest Academy. After spending three years with them, he went to Northfield Mount Hermon School in his senior year. He helped the team reach the finals of the NEPSAC Triple-A championship and the national prep championship. Wolf also received a McDonald’s All-American Game nomination and was a three-star recruit.

For college, the 21-year-old went to Yale University in 2022-23 and was primarily a backup player. He received Yale’s John C. Cobb Award, which is generally given to the team’s rookie of the year. In his sophomore season, he averaged 17.6 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and led the team to an undefeated round. Wolf was named the most outstanding player in the Ivy League tournament after he averaged 14.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks for them.

In 2024, he transferred to the University of Michigan and played for the Wolverines for the Big Ten Conference. In his junior year, he averaged 13.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game. He led the team in rebounding and in double-doubles.

Danny Wolf is one of the funkiest players in his class. As unorthodox as his game may be, his passing feel and vision will translate.

Even if he sees significantly less of the ball, his passing will still be valuable at the next level.

Danny Wolf Scouting Report- Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

Danny Wolf is quite known for making unique passes which talk about his ball-handling and ability for a center.
His large frame helps him secure both offensive and defensive rebounds. He also puts in immense efforts at chasing.
He knows how to utilize the floor effectively. In addition, he is an effective finisher, and 54.7% shooting clearly talks about it.

Weaknesses

Wolf lacks quickness and his closeout defense is in the 22nd percentile. He is a bit slow on rotations and could easily be beaten by quicker players.
Danny Wolf has a poor recovery speed and ranks below average in drop coverage. He only has 44.4% success and struggles against pull-up shooters.
His over aggressiveness often lands him in awkward spots with failed shots.
While he is a good defender, Wolf often fails in grabbing rebounds, especially when it is a long offensive rebound.

He recorded his third double-double in the seventh game of the season. Wolf led all the players with 20 points and 14 rebounds as Michigan were crowned the Fort Myers Tip-Off champions.
He scored 15 points and 12 rebounds, and led all Big Ten players with ten double-doubles through 22 games in a game against Oregon on February 5.
Wolf was named a finalist for the Karl Malone Award which is given to the nation’s best forward.
In addition, he also earned second-team All-Big Ten honors as well as was named to the all-tournament team after leading the team after leading Michigan to a Big Ten championship in the 2025 Big Ten Tournament.
Moreover, Wolf was named to the south regional all-tournament team in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
