The rumors were ripe that the lob city era player would be playing his last NBA season, which is why he chose LA. It is where his family lives and where he wanted to end his basketball career. However, the man himself has denounced those rumors.

Chris Paul recently told ESPN he isn’t ruling out another NBA season after 2025, keeping his retirement options completely open for now. Currently, the point guard is only focused on doing his best for his new side ahead of an important campaign.

Chris Paul Refuses Retirement Rumors

Multiple teams pursued Chris Paul in the offseason, and one among them was also the Phoenix Suns. However, Paul was certain about his homecoming in LA. He signed a one-year deal worth $3.6 million.

On joining the Clippers, Chris Paul said, “If I’m really honest, I wanted to get back and play here by any means necessary. I didn’t even care what the team looked like. I just wanted to be home, be here with the Clippers.”

He added, “I’m just so excited about the moves that the team has made this offseason, [Bradley Beal] coming to the team, Brook Lopez, all the young guys. I talked to James [Harden], I talked to Kawhi [Leonard]. I’m even more excited about what I think we have a chance to do.”

The Clippers are well-positioned for both immediate and long-term success, thanks to a well-managed roster and favorable contract timelines heading into future seasons. They will have huge cap space in Summer 2027 where they’re planning to move for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
