Chicago Bulls Reportedly Offered Four-Year, $80 Million Deal to Josh Giddey

Garima Ranawat

Josh Giddey averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists in previous season.

The Chicago Bulls have reportedly offered a four-million deal worth $80 million to Josh Giddey. Giddey faced a few challenges in free agency, and it was learnt that the Bulls always wanted to retain him. However, no deal has gotten signed to this point despite multiple discussions. Now, there are reports that the Bulls are willing to sign him for a four-year deal which would pay him $80 million. The development in Giddey’s saga was reported by NBA insider Jake Fischer.

He reported, “League sources say that the Bulls made an offer of $80 million over four years to restricted free agent Josh Giddey when the offseason commenced on June 30. Giddey, of course, is seeking an annual salary in the $30 million range. Chicago has been anchored in the $20 million range in annual value ever since its original offer.”

The deal offered by the Bulls is a standard deal for most restricted free agents this season except for a few players like Cam Thomas. However, Giddey is seeking a deal that would pay him over $30 million a year. No deal has been signed so far reveals that the Aussie is not satisfied with the offer. Notably, Giddey is coming off a decent season with the Bulls, where he averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game in 70 fixtures he was a part of.

Another Team Shows Interest in Signing Josh Giddey After Golden State Warriors

Josh Giddey, 22, has reportedly drawn interest from the Golden State Warriors. Reports suggested that the Dubs were willing to trade Jonathan Kuminga to acquire the Bulls guard. However, as per latest, another team has also shown interest in signing him. Recently, Allen Stiles said on Sactown Sports 1140 that he wouldn’t be surprised if the Sacramento Kings would be willing to sign him.

Stiles said, “From what I’ve heard and from those that do tend to be in the know. They would not be surprised if the Kings were one of those teams. Now, obviously Josh Giddy is a guard and they do have Dennis Schroder on this three-year deal, but everything that the Kings have done to this point this offseason have told us that they are open to everything.”

No matter which team ends up signing Giddey, having him would be a valuable addition to their roster. The 6’8” is an extremely talented guard, with expansive offensive skillset. However, if multiple teams are willing to sign Giddey, the Bulls may also wish to retain a player like him. While the deal doesn’t have a direction at the moment, one can expect an official announcement soon.
