NBA reached conclusion in investigation for Joel Embiid
The Philadelphia 76ers have been fined by the NBA for misleading statements on Joel Embiid. Embiid has missed out on 76ers games so far in the current NBA season, as a result, an investigation was launched by the league in pursuant to its player participation policy, introduced last year in response to the frequent “load management” of star players.
In an official statement released by the NBA, the league said that the player himself has not violated the policy and the investigation confirmed that he is dealing with a “left knee condition.” However, that wasn’t the case with the statements made by head coach Nick Nurse and Daryl Morey. It is worth noting that the NBA did not include examples of those statements.
As a result, the league has fined the 76ers with a penalty of $100k. It is worth noting that that Joel Embiid was the 2022-23 MVP but was limited to just 39 games last season. Moreover, he even confirmed that he will “probably never play back-to-backs the rest of my career” to preserve his body.
Embiid is set to miss his fourth straight game this season on Wednesday night against the Detroit Pistions. It remains to be seen as to when he returns to court this season.
