Amen Thompson suffers an injury setback against the Pelicans in garbage time.

The Houston Rockets suffered an injury setback as Amen Thompson injured his ankle in garbage time against the New Orleans Pelicans. After starting the season from the bench, Thompson established himself as a starter since the game against the Lakers in early January.

The Rockets star, Thompson was averaging 14.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in the season with 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. The star continues to grow in Houston and can become one of the lethal two-way threat in upcoming years.

How did Amen Thompson get injured?

The Rockets were cruising to an easy victory against the Pelicans and had a 35 point lead. Amen Thompson was going down the floor with the ball and attempted a jumper in the paint area. On the landing, Thompson misplaced his ankle and landed on opposition player’s foot. He fell on the floor grabbing his left ankle and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Amen Thompson was left in the game to complete his triple-double. He was on 15 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds. As Jabari Smith Jr. grabbed a rebound from a Pelicans missed free-throw, Thompson went down the floor to complete his triple-double. However, a bad landing on a missed shot, ruled him out for remained of the game.

Amen Thompson will be sidelined for the next 10-14 days due to a left ankle sprain. He will rehab and receive treatment for swelling on the ankle. Furthermore, MRI reveals no structural damages to the player’s ankle.

Thompson has recorded 15 double-doubles and three double-doubles in the season. Five of his double-doubles came from the bench. The Rockets’ star continues to grow in Houston and can become one of the lethal two-way threat in upcoming years.
