Klay Thompson's Beloved Bulldog, Rocco, Passes Away!

Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson suffered a devastating loss as his beloved pet dog, Rocco died at the age of 13. Thompson took to social media and paid a touching tribute to Rocco. Notably, the English bulldog made it to headlines and eventually rose to prominence during Thompson’s 13-year stint with the Golden State Warriors.

Sharing a few pictures of himself with his dog, Thompson wrote, “I’m gonna miss Rocco a lot, 13 glorious years with my boy. I know he’s in doggy heaven poppin somebody’s ball. A great dynasty dog he was. Thank you for all the sweet messages! All dogs go to Heaven!”

The bulldog was often spotted with the five-time NBA All-Star, and fans started to call him Thompson’s close companion. Not only this, but Thompson was also accompanied by Rocco on his long hikes, gym sessions and even boat rides in San Francisco. Moreover, during one of his interviews with GQ Sports a few years ago, the four-time champion said that since Rocco was his first pet, he would always hold a special place in his heart.

Golden State Warriors Pay Tribute to Klay Thompson’s Dog With Special Message

The Golden State Warriors, who first hand witnessed how the bond between Klay Thompson and Rocco grew over years, paid a heartfelt tribute to the bulldog. The Dubs shared a picture of Thompson with Rocco during their time with the team, and wrote, “Forever part of the Warriors family. Rest in peace, Rocco.”

Notably, it was Klay Thompson’s father, Mychal Thompson, who revealed Rocco’s passing when he appeared on the “Mason and Ireland” radio show. On the show, Thompson Sr revealed that they “had to put Rocco, Klay’s dog, down over the weekend.” He added, “It was time. We were all sad, but Rocco had a great, long life.”

Talking about the Mavericks star, he finished the 2024-25 regular season with 14.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. The Mavericks failed to make it to the playoffs and finished the season in tenth spot.
