Phoenix Suns in Talks to Buy Out Bradley Beal’s $110 million Contract

Garima Ranawat

Beal averaged 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game in the 2024-25 season.

The Phoenix Suns are reportedly considering a possible buyout of Bradley Beal’s $110 million contract. According to reports by the Arizona Republic, the 32-year-old has almost two years and nearly $111 million remaining on his contract. He is playing out the five-year contract he signed before the 2022-23 season worth $251 million with a no-trade clause. In case of a buyout, the Suns would pay Beal around $90 million over five years, and Beal would have to give back $13.8 million to allow the Suns to stretch his contract.

The three-time NBA All-Star would become a free agent, but he would want the Suns to find him another deal that would allow him to get the remaining $20 million he was owed. Notably, Phoenix wanted to trade him to another team, but no team would want to pay such a hefty sum for the 13-year veteran who has not been able to play more games due to injuries and has had a severe drop in his averages.

Earlier, Beal used to average 30 points per game before he signed his max contract. However, ever since he moved to Phoenix, his scoring dropped to 17.0 points per game in the 2024-25 season, even though he was shooting 49.7% from the field and 38.6% from the threes.

Miami Heat Warned Against Making Move For Bradley Beal

The Miami Heat, who were reportedly interested in making a move for the Suns’ guard Bradley Beal have been warned against closing such a deal. ESPN Insider Bobby Marks shared his insights and revealed the complexities the Florida-based franchise might have to incur if they were to secure Beal. Marks appeared on the “Ryen Russillo Podcast”, and said, “Miami… I think they have all their non-tax ML, which is $14 million.”

He added, “If you sign Bradley Beal to like a one-year $10 million deal, cause you’re spending more than $5.7 of that, you’re going to trigger the 1st Apron. I think they’re only $10-$11M below. So you guys have to be careful where your money falls.” Apart from the financial burden, Beal brings nothing much to the table for Miami, and it might not be a good enough deal for them.
