2025 NBA Finals Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Indiana Pacers Game 6 Preview – Can the Pacers Force a Game 7?

The Oklahoma City Thunder are set to take on the Indiana Pacers for Game 6 of the 2025 NBA Finals tonight. The Pacers will be playing in a do-or-die game tonight, as the Thunder have taken a 3-2 lead after Game 5. The odds are heavily stacked against the Pacers as Tyrese Haliburton’s calf injury, clearly bothering him in Game 5, could still play a factor in tonight’s game. With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams leading the team, can the Thunder take advantage of the injury and go on to win their first NBA championship since moving from Seattle to Oklahoma? Oklahoma City Thunder’s Outlook

The Thunder were dominant in Game 5 against Indiana, and arguably the biggest reason for their victory was Jalen Williams’ 40-piece on an efficient night going 14-25 from the field and only committing one turnover. Thunder’s superstar, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, is currently averaging a staggering 32.4 points, 5.0 assists, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game, as he dropped 30+ points in every Finals game except game 3. The Thunder’s bench, known to be deep, delivered yet again as Cason Wallace and Aaron Wiggins dropped a combined 25 points to seal the Thunder’s victory in Game 5. So this begs the question, can the Thunder closeout the series against the hobbled Pacers team tonight?

Indiana Pacers’ Outlook

The Indiana Pacers have lost back-to-back Finals games against the Thunder. After initially leading the series 2-1, the Thunder have retaken the lead and put the Pacers’ back against the wall as they face an elimination game. Tyrese Haliburton had a historically bad game in Game 5, as he did not score a single field goal going 0-6 and finished the game with only 4 points. The Pacers are clearly far better when Haliburton has a good scoring night, and now that the Pacers are on the brink of elimination, Hali needs to do everything in his power to keep the Pacers’ championship alive. With Haliburton clear about his intensions to play in Game 6 despite his calf strain, the Pacers have a great chance to tie the series as they will be playing in front of their fans tonight at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indiana.

Isiah Jackson is out for tonight’s game as he is managing his right Achilles tendon tear.
Jarace Walker is also out for tonight’s game as he is dealing with a right ankle sprain.
