Updated Orlando Magic Roster After Landing Desmond Bane in Memphis Grizzlies Trade

While the NBA world stayed locked on the Finals, Orlando quietly struck a surprise trade to acquire Desmond Bane from the Memphis Grizzlies. The Orlando Magic and Grizzlies negotiated the blockbuster deal in complete secrecy, catching fans and insiders off guard.

Bane now heads to Orlando, while the Grizzlies receive four unprotected first-round picks (2025, 2028, 2030, and a Phoenix/Washington 2026 pick) plus a lightly protected 2029 pick swap. This also includes the departure of Cole Anthony and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope from Orlando.

Bane is on a rookie extension deal worth $197.23 million through 2028, with an average annual salary of $39.4 million. The 26-year-old is set to earn $36.7 million during the NBA 2025–26 season with Orlando.

Orlando Magic Projected Roster

The Orlando Magic’s backcourt has received a huge boost with the inclusion of Desmond Bane. Bane with Ja Morant was one of the primary reasons behind the Memphis Grizzlies late resurgence in the previous season. The guard averaged 19.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.

Orlando’s shooting concerns could ease with Bane, who shot a career-best 41% from the field last season. After struggling against Boston’s perimeter shooting during this year’s NBA Playoffs, the Orlando Magic will hope Desmond Bane’s skill set lifts their offense, especially in the East.
