Suns vs Warriors: 3 Takeaways As Booker’s 38 Not Enough Against Curry and Moody’s Hot Shooting

Akash

In the latest Suns vs. Warriors matchup, Golden State defeated Phoenix 118-107 in a game defined by balanced scoring. Golden State pulled away with strong second and third quarters, outscoring Phoenix 70-64 in that stretch. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 28 points, while Moses Moody added 24 on highly efficient shooting.

Quinten Post also chipped in 14 points and six rebounds. For Phoenix, Devin Booker carried the load with 38 points, but the Suns struggled to find consistent support beyond Mark Williams’ 16 points and 16 rebounds. Golden State’s superior three-point shooting proved decisive in the win.

1. Curry still sets the tone, but help arrived

Stephen Curry’s 28 points came on a tough shooting night (39.1% from the field), but his presence stretched Phoenix’s defense and created space for others. The difference was the support he received. Moses Moody was outstanding, scoring 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 5-of-8 from deep.

Quinten Post also gave the Warriors a lift with 14 points and six rebounds in just 27 minutes. Golden State’s ability to get contributions from role players prevented Phoenix from loading up solely on Curry, a problem that has hurt the Warriors in past matchups.

2. Booker’s brilliance wasn’t enough

In this Suns vs. Warriors clash, Devin Booker was sensational, scoring 38 points on 54.2% shooting and a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw line. He attacked relentlessly, but his teammates couldn’t match his production. Outside of Mark Williams, who posted a strong double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds, the Suns lacked consistent scoring.

Phoenix shot just 36.4% from three-point range, and their 17 turnovers gave Golden State extra possessions. Devin Booker’s effort kept the Suns competitive, but without more balanced offense, Phoenix couldn’t keep pace with the Warriors’ firepower.

3. Three-point shooting and ball control decided the game

Golden State’s edge from beyond the arc was the difference. The Warriors hit 19 threes at a 45.2% clip, compared to Phoenix’s 12 makes on 36.4%. That nine-point swing from deep stretched the Suns’ defense and forced them to chase shooters all night.

Meanwhile, the Warriors committed only 15 turnovers, while Phoenix gave the ball away 17 times. Those small margins added up, especially with Golden State converting extra possessions into points. The Suns’ strong free-throw shooting (93.8%) kept them close, but the Warriors’ efficiency from long range ultimately sealed the win.
