NBA Results, October 24: Donovan Mitchell Drops 34 Points as Cavaliers Outlast Nets, Knicks Get Past Celtics for Second Consecutive Win, and More

What happened in the NBA on Friday? Read to know.

It was another action-filled day in the NBA as a total of 24 teams locked horns across 12 games on October 24. The Cleveland Cavaliers bounced back from their season-opening defeat and got the better of the Brooklyn Nets in a close contest. On the other hand, the New York Knicks moved past the Boston Celtics by a margin of 10 points to record their second consecutive win. 

In other NBA games for the day, the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Toronto Raptors, while the Atlanta Hawks moved past the Orlando Magic. Not only this, but the Miami Heat handed a blowout defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies whereas the San Antonio Spurs edged out the New Orleans Pelicans in a close contest. A lot more happened on the courts, and here are the highlights of NBA games that took place on Friday. 

Milwaukee Bucks 122-116 Toronto Raptors 

The Milwaukee Bucks recorded their second win of the 2025-26 season as they defeated the Toronto Raptors 122-116. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the charts with 31 points, 20 rebounds, and seven assists. He was shooting 11-of-14 from the field and 2-of-2 from the three-point range. With this, he became the first player ever to start a season with consecutive games of 30+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 6-% FG. 

Apart from him, Cole Anthony added 23 points off the bench, whereas Gary Trent Jr. dropped 20 points, two rebounds, and four assists. Ryan Rollins and Bobby Portis added 13 and 11 points, respectively for the Bucks. Overall, the Bucks hit 47-of-90 (52.2%) from the field and 14-of-40 from the three-point range. 

On the other hand, Brandon Ingram dropped 29 points for the Raptors, while recording six rebounds, and three assists. RJ Barrett came up with 20 points, six rebounds, and two assists while Immanuel Quickley scored 19 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. In addition to them, Scottie Barnes added 17 points, five rebounds, and three assists for the Raptors, who shot 42-85 from the field, and 11-27 from the deep. 

Atlanta Hawks-Orlando Magic 

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Orlando Magic 111-107 in a close-contested fixture at Kia Center. Trae Young led the Hawks with 25 points, one rebound, six assists, and two steals. Following this performance, Young now has the sixth most games by a point guard in NBA history with 25 points and five assists. Apart from him, Nickeil Alexander-Walker dropped 19 points, one rebound, and four assists whereas Onyeka Okongwu dropped 17 points. Jalen Johnson and Mouhamed Gueye dropped 12 and 13 points, respectively. 

On the other hand, Franz Wagner led the Magic with 27 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while Desmond Bane and Tristan da Silva came up with 15 points, each. Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs dropped 11 points each for the Magic. The Hawks were shooting 41-of-85 from the field, while holding the Magic to 37-of-78 (48.1%). They went 8-of-29 from the three-point range while the Magic hit 9-of-31 three-point shots. 

Cleveland Cavaliers 131-124 Brooklyn Nets 

The Cleveland Cavaliers, who slumped to the New York Knicks in their season opener, bounced back and recorded a 131-124 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Donovan Mitchell led the Cavs with 35 points, two rebounds, and five assists. He was shooting 10-of-15 from the field and 6-of-10 from the three-point range. With his Friday-night’s game, he surpassed LeBron James for the most games in the Cavs’ history with 35 points and 5 3-pm. 

Jarrett Allen and Sam Merrill dropped 22 points each for the Cavaliers while recording seven rebounds, four assists and one rebound, five assists, respectively. Craig Porter Jr and Evan Mobley came up with 14 points and 13 points, respectively for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Overall, they were shooting 44-of-82 (53.7%) from the field and 18-of-42 (42.9%) from the three-point range. 

Cam Thomas, on the other hand, led the Brooklyn Nets with 33 points, two rebounds, and nine assists. He was shooting 12-of-23 (53%) from the field and 3-of-10 from the three-point range. Thomas is now the 10th all-time in 30-point games for the Nets. Michael Porter Jr. chipped in 31 points, eight rebounds, and three assists while Ziaire Williams came up with 25 points, and two rebounds. Overall, the Nets were shooting 49-of-95 from the field for 51.6% and 19-of-44 from the deep for 43.2%. 

New York Knicks 105-95 Boston Celtics 

The New York Knicks continued their winning momentum, as they handed a 105-95 defeat to the 18-time NBA champions, Boston Celtics. Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 31 points, three rebounds, and five assists. He was shooting 10-of-20 from the field. Karl-Anthony Towns recorded 26 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists while Mikal Bridges chipped in 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Apart from them, OG Anunoby dropped 10 points before leaving the game with an apparent leg injury. Miles McBride also added 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists. 

The Celtics, who lost momentum of the game after a power-packed first quarter, were led by Jaylen Brown’s 23 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Sam Hauser dropped 18 points, and three rebounds, while Derrick White added 15 points to the scoreboard. As a team, the Celtics were shooting 35-of-82 from the field as compared to the Knicks’ 33-of-86 record. On the other hand, New York held Boston to 15-of-44 from the deep and 10-of-15 from the free-throw line as compared to its 17-of-45 shooting stats from the three-point range and 22-of-25 from the free-throw line. 

Miami Heat 146-114 Memphis Grizzlies 

The Miami Heat moved past the Memphis Grizzlies in a blow-out fashion at 146-114 as they bounced back from their defeat to the Orlando Magic. Bam Adebayo led Miami with 24 points, five rebounds, and four assists while Nikola Jovic came up with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Jaime Jaquez Jr. dropped 17 points off the bench, while Kel’el Ware added 19 points, nine rebounds, and one assist. Apart from them, Norman Powell, Simone Fontecchio, Andrew Wiggins, and Dru Smith finished with double-digit scores for the Heat. 

The Grizzlies displayed poor offensive prowess and none of their players managed to cross the 20-point mark. Jaren Jackson Jr. led them with 19 points, three rebounds, and one assist while Cedric Coward dropped 16 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Santi Aldama dropped 13 points, while Ja Morant managed to put up 12 points. As a team, they were held to 38-of-95 (40.0%) shooting from the field and 13-of-45 from the three-point range, as compared to the Heat’s 55-of-102 from the field and 19-of-40 from the deep.
