“Gotta Wear Our Big Boy Pants On”- Jimmy Butler Has His Plans Set For Game 4 As Warriors Seek Series Comeback vs. Timberwolves

Golden State Warriors’ star forward Jimmy Butler has a clear and blunt message for his teammates ahead of Game 4. They need to put their ‘big boy pants on’. The former Miami Heat star wants the team to focus more on winning, irrespective of Stephen Curry’s presence or absence. Addressing the media following the Game 3 loss, Butler said that they need to shift their focus on winning or Curry’s return won’t matter if they get eliminated before it.

Butler said, “It’s always get a win. If we don’t win, we damn sure don’t have to worry about getting Steph back this year.” He continued, “We gotta put our big boy pants on and go out there and compete at a high level and get this one on Monday, and then we can worry about the next one after that.”

Notably, the Dubs kicked off the conference semifinals series against the Timberwolves with a stunning win. However, they went on to lose two consecutive games, and are now trailing 2-1 in the series. The seven-time champions were without Stephen Curry in both the games they lost, and he is likely to miss a couple more games due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain. However, Butler has his plans clear- shifting focus onto the next game.

The six-time NBA All-Star dropped 33 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out seven assists in Game 3. Unfortunately, the Warriors failed to turn the game in their favor and suffered a 102-97 loss.

Jimmy Butler Wants To Play Full 48 Minutes As Warriors Find It Difficult To Stay Afloat vs. Timberwolves

As the Warriors find themselves without their superstar, Stephen Curry, for a few more games, Jimmy Butler wants to play a full 48 minutes. The 35-year-old who was in action for a total of 43 minutes during Saturday’s game, reportedly wants to be on court for the entire duration.

According to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk, Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr would have wanted to give Butler a few more minutes of rest. However, it wasn’t possible since they are already without Curry. On the other hand, the former Heat forward wants his coach to let him play for the entire duration of the game.

Youngmisuk shared on X, “Steve Kerr said in hindsight he would have loved to have gotten Jimmy Butler a few more minutes of rest. But without Steph Curry, Kerr has to run weigh the risk of any minutes without Jimmy on floor. Kerr says Jimmy wants to play 48 minutes and he probably has to protect Jimmy.”

As action moves to Game 4 on Monday, May 12, the Dubs would want to make the most of their home court advantage and level the series 2-2.
