Steph Curry Injury Update – How Long Will Steph Curry Be Ruled Out For?

The Golden State Warriors kicked off their Western Conference semifinals in the NBA Playoffs 2025 with a stunning 99-88 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, May 5. The Warriors, who took down the Houston Rockets in the final game of the first-round series less than 48 hours ago, are now leading the best-of-seven series 1-0. However, their victory was marred by an injury to their star, Stephen Curry.

Curry suffered a left hamstring strain during the second quarter when he was reaching for a rebound. The 37-year-old signaled to the bench before heading to the locker room. Soon, the Warriors ruled him out for the remainder of the game. Before walking out, the 11-time NBA All-Star dropped 13 points, dished one rebound and one assist. He was shooting 5-of-9 from the field and 3-of-6 from the three-point arc.

According to ESPN reporter Ohm Youngmisuk, Before walking off the court, Draymond Green asked Curry if he was good, to which he replied, “I will be back.”

How Long Will Stephen Curry Be Out For?

According to NBA Insider Anthony Slater, the Warriors star will undergo an MRI tomorrow, and an update regarding his status in the upcoming game will be shared once the reports are clear. Slater said that the seven-time champions are calling Curry day-to-day with his hamstring injury.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also shared an update on Curry’s injury and said that they are operating under assumption that he will miss atleast Game 2, scheduled on Thursday, May 8. Kerr also said that he talked to Curry during halftime, revealing that the four-time champion was ‘crushed’ by the injury.

Sharing an update, Kerr said, “Just day-to-day. We’ll get an MRI tomorrow. I talked to him at halftime—he’s obviously crushed. But the guys picked him up and played a great game.”

Kerr added, “We are definitely game planning for him to not be available on Thursday, but we don’t know yet with hamstring it is hard to imagine that he would play Thursday.” Speaking about game planning without Curry, Kerr said, “We have to talk about that. We are going to give the players a day off tomorrow, nothing, no film, they need a day.”

While the extent of Curry’s injury is still unknown, recovery for a hamstring injury varies on the basis of their severity. While one might need seven to ten days in case of a mild strain, a more serious injury could require up to six weeks. However, it is yet to be seen how long the Warriors go without Curry in such a crucial series.
