Kevin Durant makes NBA history as Suns triumph Mavericks

Kevin Durant becomes the eighth player ever to cross 29,000 points

Kevin Durant etched his name in the history books last night. Durant stepped on the court as his side Phoenix Suns took on the Dallas Mavericks led by Luka Doncic.

The game finished with a scoreline of 114-102 in favor of the Suns. In the game, Durant scored 31 points and nine rebounds. The 14-time All-Star took his career points tally to 29,010 in a 17-season journey that has taken him from Seattle to Oklahoma City, Golden State, Brooklyn, and now Phoenix.

By this, Durant became just the eighth player in the history of the league to surpass the monumental milestone of 29,000 career points. The other seven are LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Dirk Nowitzki, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kobe Bryant.

Kevin Durant reacts to his historic feat

Kevin Durant was as humble as ever after achieving the historic milestone. While speaking post-game, the 14-time All-Star gave credit to the people who have helped him and also his teammates and coaches. He said:

“I’ve got to give credit to the people who have helped me since I was a kid. Teammates who passed me the ball, set screens for me, coaches who drew up plays for me.”

At the age of 36, Durant is averaging 27.3 points across 1,064 games, proving he is still a dominant force in the league. That said, it remains to be seen as to how many years he has left in him.
