Khris Middleton made his debut for his new franchise Washington Wizards on Friday, February 21 as they clashed against his former team Milwaukee Bucks at the Capital One Arena. The game saw the Bucks handing the Wizards a close 104-101 defeat, marking their fifth straight loss.

Middleton, who was traded from the Bucks during the 2025 trade deadline, came up with 12 points, five rebounds and two assists. Apart from being his debut game for the Wizards, this was the first time Middleton was facing his former team since his rookie year when he was a part of the Pistons.

In his first action for the bottom-seeded Eastern Conference side, Middleton tried to tie the game with his three-pointer in the final seconds of the game. However, his earlier turnover affected momentum, and the Bucks edged past their rivals.

Notably, the Bucks traded the 33-year-old to the Wizards in exchange for forward Kyle Kuzma. The Wizards also sent Patrick Baldwin Jr. to the Bucks while the latter parted ways with AJ Johnson.

Before the game, the three-time NBA All-Star had made his role clear for the new team and said that he is with the Wizards as a player and wishes to win more games. Middleton said, “I want Wizards fans to know that I’m not here just to be a mentor. I’m here to be a basketball player and compete out there and help win games.”

Coming back to the match-up, Alex Sarr scored 22 points for the Wizards while Corey Kispert scored 16 points. On the other hand, Kyle Kuzma finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez posted 18 points each for the winners.
