The 2026 NBA All-Star Game will be hosted on February 15 at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
The 2026 NBA All-Star Game is going to be a different affair altogether. As per reports, the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend will be hosted as per a new format. NBA Insider Shams Charania reported that the league is considering making a few significant changes to the format of the 2026 All-Star Game. The game will be hosted in a round-robin format and will feature two USA teams and one World team.
The league and player union presented the idea to the committee and while it is yet to become official, reports suggest that it is likely to adapt the proposed format. The 2026 All-Star Game is scheduled for February 15 at the Intuit Dome, the home of the Los Angeles Clippers. Fans would be able to catch live action on NBC.

Notably, ever since its induction in 2003, the All-Star Game has become the biggest attraction of the All-Star Weekend. While it garnered all the popularity in initial years, the viewership of the star-studded contest gradually started decreasing over the years.
The league has been trying to retain the lost viewers by continuously introducing new changes in the format, rules and regulations. Last year, the All-Star Game featured a mini-tournament with four teams of eight players. The association was hopeful, but unluckily, it wasn’t enough to entice viewers to tune in.
According to data by FOS media and entertainment reporter Ryan Glasspiegel, the mid-season extravaganza averaged 4.7 million viewers across TNT platforms, which was down to 13% as compared to last year. It turned out to be the second-least-watched All-Star Game, only ahead of the 2023 edition, which had 4.6 million viewers.
According to Shams Charania, the 2026 All-Star Game is likely to use a round-robin format with three eight-player squads. Two of those squads will be USA teams while the third one will be a ‘World’ team. In the new format, these teams will play each other in “Ryder Cup-style Games” with 12-minute per quarter.
The proposed idea makes sense as the NBA’s international talent has grown in recent years, especially with names such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokic, and more.
It will allow more international players to be a part of the All-Star roster. Would the format work out? Only time will tell but by introducing new changes, the league is admitting that there is an issue that needs to be resolved.
