Will OKC Thunder win NBA Championship 2025? Bettors say so.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are heavily favored by bettors to win the NBA Championship 2025 ahead of the Conference Finals. The top-seeded Thunder will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in their Conference Finals series, set to begin on Tuesday, May 20. Ahead of the series, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Co. are highly likely to advance to the NBA Finals. In addition, they are also likely to win their first championship trophy since moving from Seattle.
According to BetMGM, the Thunder are likely to win their first (second, overall) trophy with the odds of -175. The New York Knicks are second favorites to win the title at +450 odds, while the Minnesota Timberwolves follow them with +650 odds. The Indiana Pacers, who took down the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Semifinals, are the biggest underdogs, with the odds of +800.
Notably, the Thunder have had a remarkable campaign, where they finished with a historic record of 68-14. The table-toppers, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s staggering records of 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.4 assists, have dominated their rivals all throughout the season. Even before the beginning of the season, Oklahoma City was considered a heavy favorite to go all the way in the West, with Gilgeous-Alexander leading the race for MVP 2025.

The Oklahoma City Thunder hardly faced any challenge as they began their NBA Playoffs 2025 journey with a clean 4-0 sweep over the Memphis Grizzlies. The Minnesota Timberwolves, on the flip side, were locked against the seven-time winners, Dubs, whom they took down with a 4-1 dominance. Anthony Edwards and Co. capitalized on Stephen Curry’s injury, and defeated their stronger rivals to advance to their second consecutive Conference Finals.
While the Thunder have won one trophy, during their tenure Seattle, they have been trophy-less after moving to Oklahoma City. The Timberwolves also haven’t won a trophy so far, and are aiming for one with equal desperation as their rivals.
The series between the Thunder and the Wolves will begin on Tuesday, May 20. While odds have been favoring Oklahoma City, it would be a mistake for them to underestimate their counterparts. The Timberwolves pulled off back-to-back upsets over their counterparts and their ability to pull off one more cannot be counted out.
In the East, the New York Knicks, coming off a win over the Boston Celtics, will meet the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers, defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, conference toppers to pave their way through to Round 3. Both teams have shown will to win by taking down not only upper-seeded rivals but also two names who were heavy favorites to win towards the end of the regular season. They will clash in a best-of-seven series, beginning on Wednesday, May 21.
