Guia NBA 2024-25: Miami Heat
O Miami Heat surpreendeu até mesmo seu torcedor mais otimista com a campanha da temporada 2022-23, quando chegou às finais da NBA. As expectativas para o ano seguinte eram altas, mas, foram frustradas com uma queda ainda na primeira rodada dos playoffs.
E a derrota veio justamente na série contra o Boston Celtics, equipe que havia batido nas finais do Leste anteriormente. Enquanto os celtas seguiram até o 18° título de sua história, Miami viu seu elenco se enfraquecer, e parece ainda ter dúvidas em relação a sua grande estrela, Jimmy Butler.
O que esperar do Miami Heat nesta temporada?
A quebra de expectativas começou já na temporada regular. O Heat teve apenas a oitava melhor campanha do Leste. Perdeu para o Philadelphia 76ers na primeira rodada do Play-In, e perdeu também Jimmy Butler, com uma lesão no ligamento do joelho. Conseguiu a classificação ao vencer o Chicago Bulls, mas já não pôde contar com o ala na série contra os Celtics, virando presa fácil para os futuros campeões.
Miami foi uma das equipes que menos se mexeu na offseason. Pouquíssima gente chegou, e a maior movimentação talvez tenha sido a extensão contratual acertada com o pivô Bam Adebayo.
O camisa 13, inclusive, foi o melhor jogador da franquia na última temporada. Teve médias de 19,3 pontos e 10,4 rebotes em 71 partidas. Arriscou até alguns arremessos de três pontos, com um aproveitamento decente de 35,7% em 42 tentativas. Caso consiga desenvolver esse fundamento, juntamente à meia-distância, pode se transformar em uma arma letal no ataque.
Se foi bem no lado ofensivo, na defesa o pivô foi praticamente implacável. Selecionado para o quinteto defensivo ideal da temporada, ficou em terceiro na votação do prêmio de melhor defensor, atrás dos companheiros de posição Rudy Gobert e Victor Wembanyama, respectivamente. Um verdadeiro pilar do sistema montado pelo treinador Eric Spoelstra, especialista nas defesas em zona eficientes.
Depois de um desempenho espetacular nos playoffs em 2023, Butler teve o azar de se lesionar antes mesmo da primeira rodada. Na temporada regular, foi o maior pontuador da equipe, com 20,8 pontos. Recentemente disse que, se estivesse em quadra, a caminhada nos playoffs teria sido diferente. A declaração não agradou o presidente Pat Riley.
O ala não assinou uma extensão contratual com a franquia da Flórida, e vai se tornar um free agent caso recuse uma player option ao fim da campanha. A situação tem tudo para se transformar em uma das principais histórias do Heat na temporada.
A principal perda veio com a saída de Caleb Martin, titular que assinou com o Philadelphia 76ers na offseason. Sem a chegada de novas estrelas ou mesmo de uma reposição à altura, o time deve sofrer para competir contra as maiores forças da conferência.
New York Knicks, Orlando Magic e os próprios Sixers se reforçaram durante a intertemporada, enquanto Boston manteve a base do elenco que levantou o troféu Larry O’Brien. Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers e Cleveland Cavaliers, que terminaram à frente do Miami Heat na última temporada, também não sofreram perdas significativas.
Caberá a Spoelstra, um dos melhores treinadores da NBA nos últimos anos, operar um novo ‘milagre’ para tornar o Heat competitivo novamente. O comandante é conhecido por transformar jogadores de baixa expectativa em peças sólidas de rotação, como nos exemplos recentes de Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, Duncan Robinson e do já citado Caleb Martin.
Terry Rozier, que chegou do Charlotte Hornets no início do ano, deve ser o titular na armação. Mesmo sendo um bom pontuador, não parece capaz de liderar a equipe, e também teve seus problemas físicos nos playoffs. Tyler Herro deve ser seu companheiro na posição 2. Também um pontuador versátil, não mostrou muita margem de melhora em outras áreas, especialmente na defesa, onde costuma ser um alvo evidente.
A princípio, Nikola Jovic deve brigar com Jaime Jaquez Jr. para ser o substituto de Martin no quinteto inicial. O sérvio tem potencial, mas, terá de ser bem lapidado pela comissão técnica para se tornar um jogador de calibre de titular na NBA. Jaquez teve ótimos momentos na sua temporada de calouro, mas, em sua maioria, saindo do banco.
Por todos os motivos mencionados, é difícil acreditar que Miami possa superar o retrospecto de 2023-24. Ainda que sempre confiável, Butler completou 35 anos em setembro, e passou a offseason se recuperando de uma lesão delicada. Adebayo deve ser, mais uma vez, o principal jogador do time. E também pode ser a única boa notícia, caso não existam novas movimentações.
O restante do time titular, no papel, não empolga tanto. Alguns parecem já ter atingido seu teto na carreira, como Rozier e até mesmo Herro. Nunca é bom duvidar da habilidade de Spoelstra de montar grandes times mesmo com pouco material humano à disposição. No entanto, desta vez, soa mais improvável do que nunca que consiga repetir o feito. Apesar de tudo, o Miami Heat ainda deve buscar uma vaga no Play-In, dada a disparidade entre as melhores e as piores equipes do Leste.

Principal saída: Caleb Martin
Ponto forte: Eric Spoelstra. Discutivelmente o melhor técnico da NBA na atualidade, terá que tirar (mais) um coelho da cartola para ter sucesso na nova temporada.
Ponto fraco: A falta de talento do elenco. Miami sempre aparece com um dos destinos preferidos de estrelas ao redor da liga. Contudo, há algum tempo não consegue fortalecer seu plantel com nomes consolidados.
