Le MVP de la dernière saison d’Euroligue, Sasha Vezenkov, va découvrir cette saison la NBA. Il a rejoint une ambitieuse et séduisante équipe de Sacramento dont il est difficile de situer son plafond. <\/strong><\/h2>

 <\/strong><\/p>

Victor Wembanyama ne sera pas la seule attraction européenne à faire ses débuts en NBA cette année. Sasha Vezenkov, ailier fort de 28 ans, qui sera considéré rookie, débarque aussi outre-Atlantique où il pourrait éventuellement être le candidat inattendu au titre de rookie de l’année.<\/p>

 <\/p>

L’ailier fort bulgaro-gréco-chypriote de 2,06m cherchera a imposer sa puissance en NBA, lui qui est aussi capable de shooter à 3 points et de porter la balle pour se créer son propre tir. Fort d’une moyenne de 17.6 points, 6.8 rebonds et 0.9 interception par match en Euroligue l’an dernier, le défi pour le MVP, qui sait aussi tirer à 3 points, sera de réussir à adapter son jeu à la NBA. Tâche à laquelle de nombreux talents européens tels que Teodosic, De Colo ou Mirotic se sont heurtés. À propos de cette adaptation, Vezenkov déclarait hier lors du Media Day que « le jeu est différent ici, ça va plus vite, tout le monde a du talent pour scorer ».<\/p>

Vezenkov évoluera donc aux Kings pour sa première aventure en NBA, l’équipe qui fut la grande surprise de l’an dernier au point d’emmener les champions en titre dans un Game 7 décisif au premier tour des Playoffs. Une équipe portée par son époustouflant talent offensif (meilleure attaque de NBA l’an dernier) et par un rythme effréné, symbolisé par sa star De’Aaron Fox<\/a>.<\/p>

Vezenkov a notamment pu dire ce qu’il a vu de De’Aaron Fox depuis son arrivée en Californie, « au-delà du joueur que tout le monde sait qu’il est, c’est aussi une excellente personne, il aide et parle à tout le monde. Il se comporte pareil que s’il n’avait pas été All Star ».<\/p>

Concernant sa vie aux États-Unis et plus particulièrement à Sacramento, Vezenkov a affirmé qu’il « se sentait bien, je suis arrivé depuis un mois et cette organisation me semble être comme ma deuxième famille. Tout le monde ici est une bonne personne, ils te demandent comment toi et ta famille vont, je sens vraiment une connexion spéciale, j’ai hâte de commencer » avant d’ajouter qu’il « était ici pour réaliser (son) rêve, et travailler pour gagner ».<\/p>

Sasha Vezenkov semble aussi apprécier la ville de Sacramento<\/a> qui est « calme et tranquille, j’ai l’impression d’être dans une sorte de grand village, sans manquer de respect bien sûr, mais c’est vraiment bien » a-t-il lâché.<\/p>

Les journalistes ont ensuite questionné le bulgare sur le rôle qu’il espère avoir chez les Kings, « je pourrais commencer sur le banc s’il le faut, ça n’a pas vraiment d’importance. Le plus important est d’aider l’équipe. » a rétorqué le joueur.<\/p>

Enfin Vezenkov a pu livrer son point de vue sur l’ambiance en NBA, en particulier à Sacramento comparée à l’ambiance en Europe, « l’ambiance et la culture sont différentes. En Europe ils supportent de bonnes manières mais aussi parfois de mauvaises, mon game 4 en championnat national avait par exemple été interrompu cette année ». Il découvrira notamment cette année le « Beam » de Sacramento (une lumière violette qui éclaire le ciel californien les soirs de victoire des Kings, et qui fut l’une des attractions de la saison dernière en NBA.<\/p>

Nul ne doute que si les Kings parviennent à intégrer correctement Sasha Vezenkov à leur système de jeu, ils pourraient devenir l’un des candidats inattendus au titre, eux qui sont déjà forts d’une 4ème<\/sup> place à l’Ouest l’an dernier. En revanche, il faudra significativement améliorer la production défensive (6e<\/sup> pire defensive rating de la ligue) et le bilan à domicile (23-18) à Sacramento pour rêver très haut.<\/p>

Les Kings avancent en tout cas sans faire de bruit dans cette nouvelle saison où ils paraissent plus redoutables que jamais. De son côté, Vezenkov « a hâte de commencer à jouer. La période qui vient de s’écouler est la plus lente car il n’y avait pas de matchs, pas de training camp. Quand les matchs vont commencer tout ira plus vite et je pourrais plus apprécier la vie ici ».<\/p>
