Toute cette affaire remonte probablement lorsque les membres du nouveau groupe de propriétaires mentionnent l’ancien nom de la franchise le jour de la vente de la franchise à Daniel Snyder. L’utilisation du terme a fait naître l’hypothèse que le nouveau propriétaire allait essayer de ramener l’ancien nom pour sa franchise. Cela a également encouragé certains à commencer à faire pression pour que le nom revienne.<\/p>
Le terme « Redskin » est devenu péjoratif au fil du temps et la franchise a donc fini par céder sous la pression des sponsors à changer le nom en Washington Football Team pour finalement devenir Washington Commanders.<\/p>
