Sam Howell a été nommé quarterback partant pour le match d’ouverture de la saison contre les Cardinals de l’Arizona le 10 septembre.<\/h2>

Sam Howell, choix de cinquième ronde lors du repêchage de 2022 devient donc le quarterback titulaire de la franchise devant le dernier venu, Jacoby Brissett<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>

Initialement considéré comme une troisième option derrière Carson Wentz et Taylor Heinicke, Howell a trouvé sa fenêtre d’opportunité lorsque Wentz s’est blessé au doigt lors de la semaine 6. Ce changement soudain a permis à Howell de montrer ses capacités contre l’équipe réserve.<\/p>

Sa performance a encore renforcé sa position lors d’une victoire décisive contre les Cowboys de Dallas lors du dernier match de la saison précédente. Même face à la formation de départ des Cowboys, les statistiques de Howell étaient impressionnantes : complétant 11 passes sur 19 pour 169 yards avec un touchdown et une interception. De plus, il a montré sa polyvalence en marquant un touchdown grâce à une course.<\/p>

Malgré le sentiment antérieur de ne pas « mettre de côté Jacoby », il semble que les performances de Sam Howell<\/strong><\/a> aient essentiellement rendu la concurrence sans objet.<\/p>

Bien qu’il y ait encore des domaines de son jeu qui doivent être affinés, comme l’efficacité dans la Red Zone, la franchise est convaincue que l’expérience comblera ces lacunes. L’un des aspects les plus appréciés de son gameplay est sa prise de décision, que Rivera a qualifiée de « grand plus ».<\/p>
