Pendant la saison morte, une tâche importante pour les Hurricanes de la Caroline consiste à gérer plusieurs joueurs clés entrant dans la dernière année de leurs contrats, les rendant éligibles à une prolongation comme Sebastian Aho.<\/h2>

L’un de ces joueurs est l’attaquant vedette Sebastian Aho<\/strong><\/a>, qui approche de la fin de son contrat qui a été initialement signée avec Montréal et par la suite égalée par les Hurricanes. Les progrès sur un nouvel accord pour Aho sont prometteurs, selon le directeur général Don Waddell.<\/p>

Lors d’une conversation avec Tom Gulitti de NHL.com<\/a>, Waddell a déclaré que les négociations avec Sebastian Aho progressaient et qu’un accord pourrait être imminent.<\/p>

« Nous y travaillons, nous nous rapprochons. Pas encore là, mais nous parlons régulièrement, presque tous les jours, donc j’espère que nous pourrons amener cela à la ligne d’arrivée ici dans la semaine prochaine. »<\/p><\/blockquote>

Sebastian Aho, maintenant âgé de 25 ans, a été un élément essentiel de la formation offensive de la Caroline tout au long de sa carrière de sept ans. Il a maintenu un nombre de buts constant, marquant au moins 24 buts à chaque saison. La saison dernière, Aho a mené les Hurricanes au chapitre des buts avec 36 buts, marquant la sixième année consécutive qu’il domine l’équipe dans cette catégorie.<\/p>

La transition d’Aho d’un ailier à un centre quelques années après le début de sa carrière n’a fait qu’augmenter sa valeur pour l’équipe.<\/p>

En tant que premier centre des Hurricanes, Sebastian Aho est bien placé pour obtenir une augmentation significative de son contrat actuel, qui porte une valeur moyenne annuelle (AAV) de 8,46 millions de dollars. Compte tenu de l’augmentation prévue de la limite supérieure du plafond salarial et de la production impressionnante d’Aho, il est possible qu’il puisse ajouter un autre million ou plus à sa valeur annuelle moyenne.<\/p>

S’il obtient un accord d’une durée maximale de huit ans, les Hurricanes verrouillent une pierre angulaire de la franchise à long terme.<\/p>

Alors que la prolongation du contrat d’Aho semble prometteuse, les négociations pour d’autres joueurs éligibles à la free agency, tels que les défenseurs Brett Pesce<\/strong><\/a> et Brady Skjei<\/strong><\/a>, et l’ailier Teuvo Teravainen<\/strong><\/a>, ne progressent pas aussi bien.<\/p>

« Nous avons eu des discussions, mais rien de proche », admet Waddell, « Nous avons contacté tous les différents agents juste pour leur dire notre intérêt … c’est une protection pour nous mais aussi pour eux de ne pas avoir à s’inquiéter de jouer un an.
