Les Timberwolves du Minnesota ont confirmé qu’ils vérouillaient l’étoile montante Anthony Edwards dans une prolongation de cinq ans, avec un salaire maximum attaché.<\/h2>

La nouvelle qu’Anthony Edwards avait signé cet accord important, d’une valeur pouvant atteindre 260 millions de dollars, est venue via les agents Bill Duffy et Joe Branch, comme l’a rapporté Adrian Wojnarowski d’ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>

La valeur finale de l’accord d’Anthony Edwards<\/strong><\/a> repose sur deux variables. Premièrement, si Edwards aura une place dans l’équipe All-NBA en 2024 et deuxièmement, si le plafond salarial de la ligue augmentera de 10% maximum pour la saison 2024-25. En l’absence d’une place All-NBA, avec une augmentation du plafond de 10%, l’accord s’élève à 217 millions de dollars.<\/p>

S’adressant à Wojnarowski, Anthony Edwards a exprimé sa gratitude et son enthousiasme pour l’extension.<\/p>

« Je suis humble, reconnaissant et ravi de rester dans le Minnesota au sein de cette incroyable organisation des Timberwolves », a-t-il déclaré. « C’est incroyable de voir où le travail acharné peut vous mener. »<\/p><\/blockquote>

Sélectionné comme premier choix au repêchage de 2020, Edwards a continuellement amélioré ses performances à chaque saison de la NBA. Sa dernière saison a présenté une moyenne impressionnante de 24,6 points, 5,8 rebonds, 4,4 passes décisives et 1,6 interceptions. Ses performances constantes et sa croissance en tant que joueur lui ont valu sa première sélection All-Star.<\/p>

Avec Edwards obtenant un accord maximum, il rejoint ses coéquipiers Karl-Anthony Towns et Rudy Gobert, qui ont déjà des contrats à salaire maximum. Malgré l’engagement financier apparemment énorme, il est évident que les Timberwolves croient au potentiel d’Edwards et sont prêts à centrer l’avenir de leur franchise autour de lui.<\/p>

Anthony Edwards jouera une saison de plus sur son contrat à l’échelle des rookies, gagnant 13,5 millions de dollars au cours de la saison 2023-24 avant le début de l’extension. En supposant une augmentation du plafond de 10% à 149,6 millions de dollars en 2024-25 et si Edwards obtient une place dans l’équipe All-NBA , les Timberwolves débourseront 141 millions de dollars combinés pour Edwards, Towns et Gobert.<\/p>

Malgré les défis fiscaux potentiels posés par ces trois transactions maximales et une prolongation probable pour Jaden McDaniels, il est probable que tout ajustement de la structure financière de l’équipe impliquera Towns ou Gobert plutôt qu’Edwards.
