Adam Silver a révélé sur le plateau de la NBA TV qu’une expansion à 32 équipes<\/a> serait dans les petits papiers pour le printemps 2024. Deux villes seraient mentionnées. D’abord, un retour à Seattle que beaucoup de fans plébiscitent de part son histoire. En effet, les Supersonics étaient actifs de 1967 à 2008 avant de devenir le Oklahoma City Thunder. Puis, Las Vegas qui n’est pas une surprise car dans le sport US cette ville est au centre de tout que ce soit en WNBA, NHL, NFL et bientôt peut-être en MLB. De plus, LeBron James a beaucoup de fois répété qu’il aimerait devenir propriétaire d’une franchise dans le Nevada. Et on sait que Las Vegas est un gros carrefour économique que ce soit avec ses célèbres casinos ou dans le monde sportif avec l’UFC qui s’y rend souvent pour les grands matchs.<\/p>Si cette expansion se réalise, cela amène plusieurs questions sur la table. Tout d’abord comment rééquilibrer les conférences Ouest et Est avec deux nouvelles franchises de la côte ouest. Une solution serait d’envoyer les Grizzlies à l’Est car le Tennessee est très proche de la côte Est en réalité. L’état est même plus à l’est que l’Illinois par exemple où siège Chicago. Ensuite, comment fournir ces deux équipes en joueurs ? Spots privilégiés à la draft 2024 ? Don de chaque franchise ? Draft avec beaucoup plus de joueurs ? Toutes les solutions sont les bienvenues. Enfin, quels impacts cela aura sur le calendrier. Déjà qu’une saison à 82 matchs est très longue, s’il faut rajouter quatre ou cinq matchs pour jouer contre Seattle et Las Vegas, les organismes vont encore être plus mis à rude épreuve. D’autant plus que le In-Season Tournament rajoute déjà un match aux finalistes.<\/p>
Plusieurs questions qui devront trouver leurs réponses d’ici le printemps 2024.
