Après s’être séparés de Peter Laviolette, les Capitals de Washington ont lancé une recherche intensive d’un nouvel entraîneur-chef.<\/h2>

Brian MacLellan, directeur général de l’équipe, est l’homme qui dirige cette entreprise, travaillant avec diligence sur sa liste de candidats. L’organisation des Capitals a gardé secrets les détails de la recherche. Cependant, plusieurs noms sont actuellement supposés être dans le mix selon The Athletic<\/a> :<\/p>

Spencer Carbery : un initié de l’organisation<\/h3>

Le candidat le plus prometteur est sans doute Spencer Carbery, l’ancien entraîneur en chef de la AHL Hershey et actuel adjoint des Maple Leafs de Toronto. Selon des sources anonymes, Carbery serait en haut de la liste de MacLellan et l’aurait même rencontré récemment.<\/p>

Carbery a mené le jeu de puissance performant des Leafs au cours des deux dernières saisons, menant à un taux de réussite juste derrière Edmonton. Son expérience antérieure avec l’organisation des Capitals fait de lui une option convaincante, car il connaît déjà le personnel des joueurs et des espoirs comme Connor McMichael et Aliaksei Protas.<\/p>

Cependant, les Capitals ne sont pas les seuls à viser Carbery, les Rangers de New York et les Ducks d’Anaheim étant également intéressés.<\/p>

Jeff Halpern : un maestro du jeu de puissance et un ex-capitaliste<\/h3>

Le prochain sur la liste est Jeff Halpern, un assistant du Lightning de Tampa Bay qui a contribué de manière significative au récent succès de l’équipe à la Coupe Stanley. Les passages précédents de Halpern en tant que joueur des Caps et son expérience en avantage numérique pourraient bien lui être utiles s’il était choisi pour le rôle.<\/p>

Bien qu’il n’ait pas encore été nommé entraîneur en chef, son histoire avec les Capitals, notamment en jouant aux côtés de joueurs de base comme Alex Ovechkin<\/strong><\/a>, lui donne une perspective unique.<\/p>

Brad Shaw : un associé avec une vaste expérience<\/h3>

Brad Shaw, l’entraîneur en chef associé sous John Tortorella avec les Flyers de Philadelphie la saison dernière, est un autre candidat potentiel. Il a récemment rencontré MacLellan et il se pourrait qu’il soit en lice. La majeure partie de l’expérience de Shaw est en tant qu’adjoint, mais il a été entraîneur en chef des Islanders de New York lors de la saison 2005-2006.<\/p>

Son expérience en défense et en désavantage numérique pourrait donner un coup de pouce bien nécessaire à l’alignement des Capitals.<\/p>

Todd Nelson : un visage familier à Hershey<\/h3>

Actuellement à la barre des Bears de Hershey, Todd Nelson pourrait faire le pas vers les Capitals. Il possède une vaste expérience à la fois en tant qu’entraîneur en chef et adjoint. Même s’il n’est pas clair si les Capitals l’ont contacté, sa familiarité avec de nombreux espoirs de l’équipe fait de lui une option attrayante.<\/p>

Son bref mandat précédent en tant qu’entraîneur en chef des Oilers d’Edmonton et ses succès dans la AHL, y compris une victoire à la Coupe Calder avec Grand Rapids, ajoutent encore à ses références.<\/p>

Bruce Boudreau : Le retour d’un vétéran?<\/h3>

Enfin, il y a Bruce Boudreau, le vétéran expérimenté qui a exprimé son intérêt à continuer d’entraîner. Il n’a pas encore été contacté par les Capitals concernant le poste, mais son bilan avec l’équipe – quatre titres consécutifs dans la division Sud-Est et un trophée des présidents – fait de lui un candidat remarquable.<\/p>

Boudreau, cependant, n’a pas été en mesure de guider les Capitals au-delà de la deuxième ronde éliminatoire durant son mandat.<\/p>

Les nominations éventuelles de deux nouveaux entraîneurs adjoints joueront également un rôle important dans le façonnement de l’avenir de l’équipe.
