Autre distinction proposée aux joueurs de NHL, le trophée King Clancy Memorial sera distribué pendant la soirée du 26 juin prochain. 32 athlètes ont été nominés comme chaque année.<\/h2>

Pourquoi remettre des prix uniquement aux superstars ou aux joueurs les plus talentueux ? Les autres joueurs, ceux de l’ombre, ceux du vestiaire sont tout aussi méritants. C’est pour cette raison qu’existe le trophée King Clancy Memorial. Chaque année il est décerner au joueur avec le plus de qualités de leadership sur la glace mais aussi en dehors et à celui qui a le plus aidé sa communauté.<\/p>

Pour pouvoir équilibrer les débats, un joueur de chaque équipe de NHL est selectionné. Ce qui permet à une équipe un peu en difficulté du côté des résultats sportifs, de quand même gagner une récompense de fin de saison. Parmi les nominés cette année, on retrouve des noms comme ceux d’Evgeni Malkin<\/a>, de Victor Hedman<\/a> ou de Jacob Trouba<\/a>.<\/p>

Pour ce trophée, chaque nominé est choisi par sa propre franchise. Le gagnant sera ensuite désigné par une commission spéciale présidée par Gary Bettman. Celui qui aura la chance de recevoir cette récompense recevra également une donation de 25 000 dollars afin de soutenir une oeuvre de charité de son choix.<\/p>

Sur le plan historique, le Trophée King Clancy Memorial a été présenté en 1988 en l’honneur de Frank « King » Clancy. Pendant des décennies, il était une figure emblématique de NHL en tant que joueur, arbitre, coach, manager et ambassadeur de bonne volonté.<\/p>

Il a été 3 fois champions de la Stnaley Cup et a été intronisé au Hall Of Fame en 1958. Frank « King » Clancy a été voté comme l’un des 100 plus grands joueurs de NHL lors d’une cérémonie de 2017. C’est donc pour lui faire honneur que le trophée a été créé.<\/p>

Cette année, chaque joueur a sa chance de l’emporter. L’année dernière<\/a>, c’est le défenseur des Devils de New Jersey P.K Subban<\/a> qui avait remporté ce trophée.
