Les Hurricanes de la Caroline ont mis la saison des Islanders de New York au bord du gouffre après une victoire dominante de 5-2 dans le troisième match, prolongeant leur avance dans la série à 3-1.<\/h2>

Les Islanders n’ont pas réussi à tenir face à la puissance de Carolina, compromettant leur chance de poursuivre leur parcours en série.<\/p>

Dès le début, les Islanders sont sortis avec énergie, mais des pénalités contre Zach Parise<\/strong><\/a> et Ryan Pulock ont donné aux Hurricanes l’occasion dont ils avaient besoin. Les Hurricanes ont profité d’un avantage de cinq contre trois, Seth Jarvis marquant le premier but sur une passe rapide de Stefan Noesen.<\/p>

Malgré un jeu dominant à cinq contre cinq, les Islanders ont eu du mal en supériorité numérique, obtenant un bilan de 0 contre 2 en première période. Les Hurricanes, quant à eux, sont allés 1 pour 2, profitant au maximum de leurs opportunités.<\/p>

Au début de la deuxième période, Martin Necas a prolongé l’avance des Hurricanes à 2-0 grâce à une autre aide de Noesen. Le désavantage numérique des Islanders a tenu bon, mais ils n’ont pas pu trouver de réponse à l’attaque de Carolina à force égale. Les Hurricanes ont ajouté à leur avance avec le but impair de Sebastian Aho, portant le score à 3-0 avec seulement 6:30 à faire en deuxième.<\/p>

Le jeu de puissance des Islanders a continué de faiblir, et malgré quelques occasions très dangereuses, les Hurricanes ont entamé la troisième période avec une avance de 3-0. La Caroline n’a pas perdu de temps dans le dernier cadre, Jarvis marquant son deuxième but lors d’une échappée pour mettre le match apparemment hors de portée à 4-0.<\/p>

New York a finalement trouvé le fond du filet 3:14 après le début du troisième, alors que le tir du poignet d’Adam Pelech a insufflé un peu de vie à l’équipe. Ils ont réussi à créer un élan, mais un but de Mackenzie MacEachern a anéanti tout espoir de retour. Bo Horvat<\/strong><\/a> a ajouté un but de consolation en infériorité numérique pour les Islanders, mais ce n’était pas suffisant car ils ont perdu 5-2.<\/p>

Maintenant confrontés à l’élimination, les Islanders doivent gagner le quatrième match à Raleigh pour maintenir leurs rêves de séries éliminatoires en vie.
