Les Giants de San Francisco ont assuré l’avenir de leur rotation de départ, verrouillant le droitier Logan Webb avec une prolongation de contrat de 90 millions de dollars sur cinq ans.<\/h2>

L’accord intervient après que les deux parties aient brièvement discuté d’une prolongation à long terme lors de l’entraînement de printemps, mais étaient initialement très éloignées dans les négociations. Cependant, les pourparlers ont repris autour de la journée d’ouverture et un accord a été conclu pour garder le lanceur de 26 ans à San Francisco pendant les cinq prochaines saisons.<\/p>

Malgré un début de saison lent, affichant une ERA de 6,35 lors de ses trois premières sorties, les Giants restent confiants dans les capacités de Webb. La saison dernière, Webb s’est imposé comme l’as des Giants, apparaissant dans 32 matchs avec une ERA de 2,90 et un impressionnant ratio retraits sur balles de 163\/49. L’organisation estime que les difficultés de Webb en début de saison ne sont qu’un revers mineur et qu’il reviendra bientôt pour devenir l’un des meilleurs jeunes lanceurs du baseball.<\/p>

Les Giants ont depuis longtemps une vision d’une rotation de départ dirigée par Logan Webb et l’espoir prometteur Kyle Harrison<\/strong><\/a>. Avec Webb maintenant verrouillé à long terme et Harrison qui devrait faire ses débuts au cours de la saison régulière 2023, la future rotation des Giants commence à prendre forme. Ce duo prometteur pourrait donner à San Francisco son meilleur groupe de lanceurs depuis l’époque de Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner et Tim Lincecum.<\/p>

Sous la direction du président des opérations de baseball Farhan Zaidi, les Giants ont été ouverts à des accords à long terme, comme en témoignent les prospections autour de Carlos Correa et Aaron Judge. Cependant, l’organisation a généralement préféré des contrats plus courts pour maintenir la flexibilité de la paie. Dans le cas de Logan Webb, les deux parties ont reconnu l’importance d’assurer l’avenir du jeune as, ce qui s’est traduit par un engagement à long terme des deux côtés.<\/p>

L’extension de Webb marque le premier joueur de la liste des Giants à être sous contrat au delà de 2026.
