Les New Orleans Pelicans pourraient être contraints de disputer le tournoi de play-in sans leur star, Zion Williamson.<\/h2>

Selon le vice-président de la franchise, David Griffin, il est peu probable que l’intérieur soit prêt à jouer la semaine prochaine pour les rencontres de play-in. La date de son retour potentiel demeure incertaine.<\/p>

Les Pelicans, actuellement en pleine dynamique avec 9 victoires en 11 matchs, pourraient devoir passer par le play-in pour atteindre les playoffs. Tout comme l’année dernière, ils devront se battre sans Zion Williamso<\/strong><\/a>n. Griffin a annoncé que Zion Williamson ne s’entraînera pas avec l’équipe ce samedi et ne sera disponible pour aucune des rencontres éventuelles de la semaine prochaine.<\/p>

Griffin, cité par ESPN<\/a>, a déclaré :<\/p>

« Je dirais, en considérant notre situation actuelle, qu’il n’est pas possible d’effectuer le travail qui lui permettrait de s’entraîner en 5 contre 5 à temps pour n’importe quel match de play-in. […] Le meilleur résultat possible serait que, si tout se passait parfaitement, qu’il soit capable de s’entraîner avant ou pendant le premier tour ».<\/p><\/blockquote>

Cependant, il n’a pas donné beaucoup de garanties.<\/p>

Griffin a ajouté :<\/p>

« Et encore une fois, il se peut que nous n’arrivions jamais à ce stade. Si toutes les conditions ne sont pas réunies pour qu’il se sente comme il doit se sentir, on ne le laissera pas passer à la phase suivante ».<\/p><\/blockquote>

Le vice-président ne semble pas très optimiste quant au retour de Zion Williamson, absent depuis le 2 janvier en raison d’une blessure aux ischio-jambiers et d’une rechute lors de sa convalescence.<\/p>

Les Pelicans devraient terminer à la 8e place de leur conférence et affronter les Minnesota Timberwolves dimanche, une autre équipe concernée par le play-in. Griffin explique que l’objectif est d’avoir tous les paramètres objectifs, tels que la force et la vitesse de Zion Williamson, pour savoir où il en est et comment il se sent. Jusqu’à présent, ce n’est pas le cas.<\/p>

Bien que Williamson ait fait des progrès en 3 contre 3, il n’est pas en mesure de passer à l’étape supérieure. Griffin décrit la situation comme une hésitation plutôt qu’une blessure ou une douleur. Il rappelle l’expérience vécue avec Brandon Ingram, en disant qu’il jouerait quand il se sentirait lui-même. Cela se voit quand quelqu’un a confiance en lui et qu’il est sûr de lui, ce qui n’est pas le cas pour Zion Williamson en ce moment.<\/p>

Les Pelicans devront donc trouver un moyen de compenser l’absence de leur star lors du play-in et éventuellement au-delà, si Williamson ne parvient pas à revenir rapidement.
