Les rumeurs de départ autour de Brian Thomas Jr.<\/a> n’auront pas duré longtemps. Alors que plusieurs médias évoquaient la possibilité d’un échange impliquant le jeune receveur avant la trade deadline, l’entraîneur principal des Jacksonville Jaguars, Liam Coen, a tenu à mettre les choses au clair.<\/p>

Brian Thomas rentre toujours dans les plans des Jaguars<\/h2>

Lors de sa conférence de presse de reprise après la semaine de repos, Coen a fermement démenti toute intention de se séparer du joueur, pourtant en difficulté depuis le début de la saison.<\/p>

« Nous n’avons absolument aucun projet de transfert concernant Brian Thomas Jr. », a déclaré le coach. « Ce genre de rumeur circule vite, mais je peux affirmer que nous comptons sur lui pour la suite. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Auteur d’une saison rookie exceptionnelle en 2024, Thomas peine à reproduire le même impact cette année. En sept matchs, il cumule 27 réceptions pour 365 yards et un touchdown, des chiffres en retrait par rapport à ses débuts tonitruants. S’ajoutent à cela plusieurs passes relâchées et un manque d’intensité pointé du doigt par les observateurs.<\/p>

La confiance de Coen envers Thomas<\/h2>

Malgré tout, Coen garde confiance en son jeune talent.<\/p>

« Je suis très optimiste. La semaine de repos lui a permis de faire le point et de repartir sur de bonnes bases. C’est un excellent moment pour un nouveau départ », a-t-il ajouté.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Sous contrat pour plusieurs saisons encore, Thomas reste une pièce centrale du projet offensif de Jacksonville. Le receveur aura l’occasion de prouver sa valeur dès la semaine 9 face aux Raiders, un match où il devra montrer qu’il peut redevenir le playmaker explosif qui avait séduit toute la NFL lors de sa première année.<\/p>
