Alors que les Los Angeles Lakers s’apprêtent à entamer la saison NBA sans LeBron James, Luka Doncic garde la tête froide. Devant les journalistes, le meneur All-NBA a insisté sur la nécessité pour l’équipe de ne pas s’attarder sur l’absence de la superstar, appelant à adopter une mentalité du « next man up », autrement dit « le prochain doit prendre le relais », pendant que le joueur de 40 ans poursuit sa récupération d’une sciatique.<\/p>

« C’est un grand changement. C’est un joueur exceptionnel, il peut beaucoup nous apporter », a déclaré Doncic<\/a>, cité par Dave McMenamin.
« Mais au final, notre mentalité doit être celle du prochain homme debout. On a un groupe de gars qui s’entraîne fort, et on espère que LeBron pourra nous rejoindre dès que possible. On a besoin de lui, mais il faut continuer d’avancer. Je veux juste jouer au basket, rien de plus, rien de moins. Tout ce qu’il faut pour gagner. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

LeBron James manquera le début de saison<\/h2>

Bien que Luka Doncic soit déjà devenu le centre d’attention à Los Angeles, il est conscient que le succès des Lakers dépend en grande partie de la santé de LeBron James. La durabilité du vétéran reste incertaine, sa convalescence devant durer encore environ trois semaines.<\/p>

Le « King » souffre d’une sciatique depuis deux mois<\/a>, une douleur persistante qui l’empêchera de participer à la soirée d’ouverture pour la première fois de sa carrière. Un contretemps mineur, certes, mais qui intervient après une intersaison pleine d’optimisme concernant sa préparation pour une nouvelle campagne.<\/p>

Luka Doncic comble le vide laissé par le King<\/h3>

Plutôt que de paniquer face à l’absence de leur leader, les Lakers peuvent compter sur un Luka Doncic prêt à assumer ses responsabilités. En meilleure forme physique et mentale, il semble déterminé à maintenir le cap et à garder Los Angeles compétitif jusqu’au retour de James.<\/p>

Pour Doncic, cette période doit être perçue comme une opportunité : celle pour des joueurs comme Austin Reaves<\/strong>, Rui Hachimura<\/strong> ou encore Deandre Ayton<\/strong> d’élever leur niveau de jeu et de préserver la dynamique du groupe.<\/p>

Alors que LeBron James s’apprête à entamer sa 23e saison NBA<\/strong>, ces moments sans lui serviront de test pour évaluer la capacité des Lakers à s’adapter et à performer sans dépendre entièrement de leur icône.<\/p>

S’ils parviennent à tenir bon, ils en sortiront plus forts.<\/p>
