Les Trail Blazers changent officiellement de mains après un accord formel entre la succession de Paul Allen et un groupe d’investisseurs, mais la franchise reste garantie à Portland.<\/p>

L’avenir des Portland Trail Blazers a enfin trouvé une issue officielle vendredi 12 septembre. En effet, la succession de Paul Allen a annoncé un accord formel de vente avec le groupe d’investisseurs dirigé par Tom Dundon, actuel propriétaire des Carolina Hurricanes (NHL). <\/p>

Bien que les chiffres officiels n’aient pas été révélés, ESPN avait déjà indiqué que la transaction avoisinait les 4 milliards de dollars<\/a>.<\/p>

Le mois dernier, Dundon avait déjà annoncé un accord préliminaire pour acquérir la franchise NBA, assurant que l’équipe resterait à Portland. Désormais, avec le contrat signé, il ne manque plus que la ratification du Conseil des Gouverneurs de la NBA pour conclure la vente, ce qui devrait intervenir dans les prochains mois, d’ici la fin de l’année 2025.<\/p>

Qui sont les nouveaux propriétaires des Blazers ?<\/h2>

En plus de Dundon, 53 ans, le groupe d’investisseurs rassemble plusieurs entrepreneurs fortunés. Cette diversité de profils et d’origines démontre la volonté d’inscrire le projet des Trail Blazers dans le long terme, en associant capitaux internationaux et ancrage local à Portland.<\/p>

Dundon, déjà cité, possède une solide expérience dans la gestion sportive. Il a acquis une participation dans les Carolina Hurricanes en 2017 avant d’en devenir l’actionnaire majoritaire l’année suivante. En dehors du sport, il dirige Dundon Capital Partners, une société d’investissements basée à Dallas.<\/p>

L’héritage de Paul Allen<\/h2>

Paul Allen, cofondateur de Microsoft, avait acheté les Trail Blazers en 1988 pour seulement 70 millions de dollars. Sous sa direction, la franchise est restée une place forte de la NBA et un symbole majeur du sport à Portland. Allen fut également propriétaire des Seattle Seahawks (NFL) et copropriétaire des Seattle Sounders (MLS).<\/p>

Après son décès en 2018, sa sœur Jody Allen a pris la gestion des équipes via le Paul G. Allen Trust<\/strong>. La vente des Trail Blazers faisait déjà partie de son testament, le milliardaire ayant prévu que les fonds issus de la transaction soient consacrés à des initiatives philanthropiques.<\/p>

Il n’y a pas encore de calendrier défini pour la vente des Seahawks ou de la participation de 25 % dans les Sounders. Pour l’instant, l’attention se concentre sur la finalisation de l’une des plus grandes transactions de l’histoire de la NBA – la troisième vente de franchise de cette intersaison. Avant cela, les Celtics et les Lakers avaient eux aussi changé de propriétaires pour des montants records.<\/p>
