Le GM des Houston Rockets a écarté cette possibilité en raison du manque d’intérêt des Bucks à échanger le double MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo.<\/p>

Après l’élimination des Milwaukee Bucks contre les Indiana Pacers lors du dernier post-saison, beaucoup anticipaient un départ de Giannis Antetokounmpo. Le Grec restait sur plusieurs désillusions en playoffs avec les Bucks et devait de plus composer sans Damian Lillard, victime d’une rupture du tendon d’Achille pour la saison suivante. Houston apparaissait alors comme une option crédible.<\/p>

Les Rockets possèdent l’un des plus gros capitaux de choix de Draft de toute la NBA, en plus de jeunes joueurs prometteurs. Pourtant, le general manager Rafael Stone a rapidement écarté l’idée d’un échange impliquant Antetokounmpo.<\/p>

« Non », a déclaré Stone ce vendredi (22), interrogé sur la possibilité d’un trade pour Giannis. « J’ai une très bonne relation avec Jon Horst (GM des Bucks), que j’apprécie beaucoup. Jon a été très clair : ils ne vont rien faire. Donc voilà. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Ainsi, il est très improbable que le double MVP ne soit pas un joueur des Bucks la saison prochaine. Giannis lui-même a déjà affirmé vouloir rester à Milwaukee et son attachement à la ville. De son côté, Shams Charania a toutefois tempéré, expliquant que l’avenir du joueur n’était pas encore tranché :<\/p>

« Nous sommes le 4 août et, selon mes sources, rien n’est encore décidé. Giannis continue d’évaluer si son meilleur projet est à Milwaukee ou ailleurs. Le processus est toujours en cours. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Les Rockets ont d’autres priorités<\/h2>

Après avoir acquis Kevin Durant et renforcé leur effectif cet été, les Rockets doivent désormais prolonger leur nouvelle star<\/a>. En effet, Durant n’est engagé que pour la saison NBA 2025-26<\/a>, mais selon Brian Windhorst, un nouvel accord est proche. Houston pourrait alors compter sur un noyau composé de Durant, Amen Thompson et Alperen Sengun pour au moins deux saisons supplémentaires.<\/p>

Dans l’hypothèse d’un échange pour Antetokounmpo, l’un entre Sengun ou Thompson devrait probablement être inclus. D’autant que les Rockets auraient à faire face à la concurrence d’autres franchises intéressées. Parmi elles, les San Antonio Spurs et, plus récemment, les New York Knicks, qui suivraient de près la situation à Milwaukee dans l’attente de lancer une offensive.<\/p>
