À un peu plus d’un mois du début de la saison régulière, l’état de santé de Matthew Stafford suscite attention et commentaires de côté de Los Angeles. Absent depuis plusieurs jours du camp d’entraînement des Rams, le quarterback vétéran continue de soigner une blessure au dos. Pourtant, malgré une nouvelle visite chez un spécialiste ce samedi, l’entraîneur principal Sean McVay s’est voulu rassurant.<\/p>

« Je ne veux pas fixer de calendrier précis », a expliqué McVay à la presse<\/a>, cité par The Los Angeles Times<\/em>. « Mais je sais qu’il progresse bien. Il a revu le Dr Steven Watkins. Tout va bien. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Matthew Stafford disponible pour la week 1?<\/h2>

À 37 ans, Matthew Stafford n’en est pas à sa première alerte physique. Depuis son arrivée dans la NFL en 2009, le quarterback a souvent été freiné par diverses blessures, notamment au dos, au coude et aux côtes. Cette nouvelle absence intervient alors qu’il devait entamer sa 16e saison en tant que titulaire.<\/p>

Si les Los Angeles Rams<\/a> gardent espoir de le voir prêt pour l’ouverture de la saison régulière le 7 septembre face aux Houston Texans, Stafford manquera une troisième semaine consécutive de préparation. Une absence qui n’est tout de même pas anodine dans la préparation d’une saison. Il sera notamment absent lors de la séance conjointe d’entraînement prévue mardi avec les Dallas Cowboys. Sa participation aux entraînements prévus avec les Los Angeles Chargers la semaine suivante reste également incertaine.<\/p>

En attendant son retour, les quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo et Stetson Bennett se partagent les répétitions avec l’équipe première. En mars dernier, Stafford a signé une révision de son contrat, lui garantissant 84 millions de dollars sur les deux prochaines saisons. Un engagement fort du club, qui mise encore sur lui pour diriger une attaque et une franchise ambitieuse après un passage remarqué en playoffs la saison dernière.<\/p>

Les prochains jours seront donc décisifs pour évaluer la capacité de Stafford à retrouver les terrains avant le coup d’envoi officiel de la saison 2025. Pour l’heure, le mot d’ordre à Los Angeles reste: prudence et confiance.<\/p>
