Légende de la NBA, Vince Carter a acquis une part minoritaire des Buffalo Bills (NFL) en décembre dernier. <\/p>

L’ancien joueur aux 22 saisons disputées en NBA, record qui sera battu en octobre par LeBron James, continue de diversifier ses activités depuis la fin de sa carrière sportive. En plus d’être commentateur pour NBC Sports la saison prochaine, Carter s’investit désormais dans le monde du football américain.<\/p>

Comme de nombreux athlètes, y compris LeBron James<\/a><\/strong>, Carter n’a jamais caché son intérêt pour devenir actionnaire d’une franchise. À l’origine, il visait une équipe de NBA. Mais Terry et Kim Pegula, propriétaires des Bills, l’ont convaincu de s’orienter vers la NFL<\/a>.<\/p>

« J’ai rencontré le GM, le président, le propriétaire, le boss. J’ai rencontré tout le monde, on a discuté, j’ai surtout écouté et appris. Je ne veux pas juste que mon nom apparaisse sur un papier, je veux m’impliquer », a-t-il confié à Chris Vinel du Daytona Beach News<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Même s’il fait ses premiers pas dans l’univers des affaires, Carter affiche une grande motivation. Sa relation avec le football américain ne date pas d’hier, comme il l’a rappelé en entretien.<\/p>

« Je suis très excité de faire partie de cette aventure. Jamais je n’aurais imaginé, même dans mes rêves les plus fous, devenir actionnaire dans le football. Heureusement, j’y ai déjà joué, donc je me sens à l’aise dans ce milieu. Mais je ne pensais pas que cette opportunité se présenterait. Et elle est arrivée. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Vince Carter épaulé par un proche<\/h2>

L’année 2024 a été marquante pour Carter. En novembre, il a vu son maillot n°15 retiré par les Toronto Raptors lors d’une cérémonie émouvante à la Scotiabank Arena. Une réconciliation symbolique après des années de tensions avec les fans canadiens. L’ex-star y avait joué un peu plus de six saisons, avec six sélections au All-Star Game, deux aux All-NBA Teams et un titre de rookie de l’année en 1998-99.<\/p>

Un mois plus tard, en décembre, Carter a acquis ses parts des Bills… avec un partenaire bien connu : Tracy McGrady<\/strong>, son ancien coéquipier à Toronto et cousin.<\/p>

Confiant pour l’avenir des Bills, Carter conclut :<\/p>

« J’aime ce qu’on construit. Je suis confiant. On a récupéré de bons éléments lors de la Draft et de la free agency. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>
