Shaquille O’Neal, membre du Hall of Fame de la NBA, a une nouvelle fois critiqué Rudy Gobert, pivot des Minnesota Timberwolves, lors d’un nouvel épisode de son émission The Big Podcast<\/em>, publié mercredi. <\/p>

L’ancienne légende des Lakers a non seulement attaqué le niveau de jeu du Français, mais a aussi exprimé sans détour son antipathie personnelle à son égard.<\/p>

“Je déteste Rudy Gobert, bordel”, a lancé Shaq<\/a>. “Il gagne 250 millions et il ne les mérite pas. En tant que président de la Big Man Alliance, si tu touches un gros salaire, tu dois jouer comme un grand joueur. C’est tout.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

“Distribue des coups de coude. Fait tomber des mecs. Ne laisse pas ces petits blancs de Denver dunker sur ta gueule et te provoquer. Et à la fin, tu veux l’attraper par le cou ? Si tu veux être payé comme un grand, joue comme un grand”, a-t-il ajouté.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Shaq faisait ici référence à un épisode survenu la saison dernière : Rudy Gobert (2,16 m) avait été postérisé par Christian Braun (1,98 m), jeune joueur des Denver Nuggets. Une action qui avait déclenché une altercation après que le Français ait mal digéré le dunk spectaculaire.<\/p>

Une querelle ancienne<\/h2>

Les critiques de Shaquille O’Neal envers Rudy Gobert ne datent pas d’hier. En septembre 2024 déjà, l’ex-pivot des Lakers avait qualifié le Français de “pire joueur de tous les temps” et affirmé ne lui porter aucun respect.<\/p>

“Si tu signes un contrat à 250 millions, montre-moi ce que valent ces 250 millions. Moi, j’ai bossé pour mériter mes contrats. C’est pour ça que je marche bizarrement aujourd’hui et que je peux à peine bouger le cou. Et là, on a des mecs comme lui qui bousillent le système. Ils prennent tout cet argent et ne foutent rien. Je ne respecte pas ce genre de joueur”, avait-il lâché à l’époque.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Les chiffres de Gobert<\/h2>

Les critiques envers Rudy Gobert ciblent surtout son apport offensif jugé limité. Défensivement en revanche, il continue de briller : il a remporté le titre de Défenseur de l’année à quatre reprises, un record qu’il partage avec Dikembe Mutombo<\/a><\/strong> et Ben Wallace.<\/p>

Lors de la saison 2024-25, il a affiché des moyennes solides : 12,0 points, 10,9 rebonds et 1,4 contre en 72 matchs. Des performances qui ont aidé les Timberwolves à atteindre une deuxième finale de Conférence Ouest consécutive.<\/p>
