Pour sa saison rookie, Brian Thomas Jr. a été l’une des rares satisfactions chez les Jaguars. Le receveur a signé une campagne impressionnante avec 87 réceptions, 1 282 yards et 10 touchdowns, des statistiques qui lui ont valu une sélection au Pro Bowl dès sa première année. Et selon le staff, ce n’est que le début. <\/p>

Un leader en devenir <\/h2>

Edgar Bennett, coach des receveurs à Jacksonville, a confié au Florida Times-Union<\/a> que Thomas s’impliquait pleinement dans sa progression, tant sur le terrain qu’en dehors : <\/p>

\n

« Il a clairement pris un rôle de leader, il s’exprime davantage. Et ce n’est pas seulement verbalement : il montre aussi l’exemple par ses actions. C’est une façon de tirer tout le groupe vers le haut. » <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Le receveur, de son côté, a affirmé vouloir assumer ce rôle, notamment pour aider le rookie Travis Hunter, qui tente le pari ambitieux de jouer à la fois receveur et cornerback, un double rôle extrêmement rare dans la NFL moderne.<\/p>

Une éthique de travail irréprochable <\/h3>

Bennett insiste : malgré ses débuts éclatants, Thomas reste animé par une soif de progression constante. <\/p>

« Il ne se repose pas sur ses lauriers. Ce n’est tout simplement pas dans sa nature. Il veut être le meilleur, et il travaille chaque jour dans ce sens. Que ce soit en salle vidéo, à l’entraînement, lors des échauffements ou dans la salle de musculation, il est à fond. » <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Avec Brian Thomas Jr. et Travis Hunter, les Jaguars pensent tenir un duo de jeunes talents exceptionnels, aussi travailleurs que doués. Si leur développement se poursuit à ce rythme, l’avenir pourrait s’annoncer très prometteur du côté de Jacksonville.<\/p>
