Membre de la conférence Big Ten depuis la saison 2024, Oregon est une place forte du football universitaire. Candidats au titre NCAA une saison de plus, les Ducks ont fait le choix, ce jeudi soir, de recruter Jett Washington, le neveu d’un certain Kobe Bryant. <\/p>

Un avenir digne du Black Mamba ? <\/h2>

Fils de Sharia, la sœur aînée de Kobe, et de Jerrod Washington, ex-star du football universitaire recruté par les New England Patriots en 1994, Jett a été classé n°1 au poste de safety dans la classe 2026 par ESPN<\/a>. Il a annoncé son engagement en faveur de l’université d’Oregon, au détriment d’Alabama et de USC. <\/p>

Originaire de Las Vegas, Washington mesure 1,96 m pour 95 kg. Il est actuellement le 22e meilleur joueur national et la recrue 4-étoiles la mieux classée de l’ESPN 300 2026, juste derrière le tight end cinq-étoiles Kendre’ Harrison (n°11). Ce dernier devient la tête d’affiche d’un groupe de six joueurs classés dans le top 300 ayant déjà donné leur accord à Oregon. <\/p>

Un profil athlétique complet, entre football et héritage NBA <\/h3>

Titulaire pour une troisième saison consécutive à Bishop Gorman, un lycée réputé de Las Vegas, Washington a compilé 38 plaquages et 5 interceptions lors de sa saison junior en 2024. Sportif polyvalent, il a également contribué au titre de champion d’État de basket-ball (classe 5A du Nevada) remporté par son école pour la deuxième année consécutive.<\/p>

Cet engagement représente un véritable soulagement pour Dan Lanning, coach des Ducks, après plusieurs déconvenues sur le marché des recrues ces dernières semaines. Oregon avait récemment échoué à recruter deux prospects cinq-étoiles : Jackson Cantwell (n°3) et Jared Curtis (n°5). Plus tôt dans la journée de jeudi, Brandon Arrington (n°14), autre cible prioritaire, avait opté pour Texas A&M après une bataille acharnée avec Oregon, rapporte ESPN<\/a>. <\/p>

Avec cet engagement, Jett Washington devient le défenseur le mieux classé de la cuvée 2026 des Ducks. Le jeune homme est par ailleurs le troisième joueur défensif du top 300 ESPN à rejoindre Oregon, aux côtés des defensive tackles Tony Cumberland (n°89) et Viliami Moala (n°262).<\/p>
