Après avoir remercié Tom Thibodeau, les Knicks cherchent le nom de son successeur pour prendre les rênes de la franchise. Après les échecs face aux Pacers en demi-finale de conférence en 2024 et en finale de conférence cette saison, New York cherche le technicien qui leur fera retrouver les Finales NBA. Et pour cela, les Knicks auraient trois noms en tête, tous actuellement sous contrat en NBA.<\/p>

Ime Udoka, Chris Finch et Jason Kidd<\/h2>

Selon SNY<\/a>, les Knicks auraient coché trois noms pour devenir le nouveau coach de la franchise : Ime Udoka, Chris Finch et Jason Kidd. Ces trois hommes font partie des entraîneurs actuellement sous contrat que New York surveille. Toujours selon le média américain, la franchise va demander l’autorisation aux Mavericks pour interviewer Jason Kidd (52 ans), en poste depuis 2021. Kidd pourrait retrouver Jalen Brunson qu’il a déjà entrainé lorsque le meneur était à Dallas, mais également le Madison Square Garden que le technicien a connu comme joueur des Knicks.<\/p>

De son côté, Ime Udoka est pour le moment à la tête des Rockets, et la franchise texane n’a aucunement l’intention de le laisser partir pour rejoindre les Knicks. Ce dernier a conduit Houston à une impressionnante deuxième place au classement de la conférence Ouest lors de la saison 2024-2025, à la tête d’un effectif jeune et prometteur. Selon The Athletic, Udoka et les Rockets sont pleinement investis dans un projet à long terme et s’activent déjà en vue d’une intersaison chargée. Sous contrat jusqu’en 2027 et âgé de 47 ans, Udoka a pris les commandes de l’équipe pour la saison 2023-2024. Avant cela, ce dernier avait dirigé les Celtics de 2021 à 2023, et occupé des postes d’assistant chez les Spurs, les 76ers et les Nets.<\/p>

Enfin, Chris Finch est à la tête des Timberwolves, de nouveau éliminés en finale de conférence, pour la deuxième saison de suite. Là aussi, un entraîneur avec encore plusieurs années de contrat puisque Finch a prolongé pour quatre ans en juin 2024, et son bilan devrait motiver sa franchise à le garder. Un départ de ce dernier pourrait bouleverser tout l’équilibre construit depuis plusieurs saisons à Minneapolis. Une arrivée de Finch aux Knicks signifierait des retrouvailles avec Karl-Anthony Towns. L’intérieur dominicain a été sous le feu des critiques face aux Pacers notamment, et retrouver un coach familier pourrait l’aider à élever encore son niveau, les deux hommes s’étant côtoyés entre 2021 et 2024 chez les Wolves.<\/p>

Si les Knicks venaient à recruter Udoka, Finch ou Kidd, la franchise devrait verser une compensation à leur équipe actuelle, les trois hommes étant sous contrat. Contrairement à d’autres franchises, celle de la Big Apple ne veut pas offrir une première expérience à un coach prometteur, mais plutôt capitaliser sur un technicien qui a déjà fait ses preuves.<\/p>
