Le quarterback vétéran Russell Wilson a trouvé une nouvelle équipe pour la saison NFL 2025. Ce dernier a rejoint les New York Giants après un court passage d’un an chez les Pittsburgh Steelers. Wilson devrait prendre les commandes du poste de quarterback, tout en jouant un rôle de mentor pour le jeune Jaxson Dart, sélectionné par la franchise lors de la Draft. <\/p>

« Pittsburgh a été un bon endroit pour moi » <\/h2>

Bien que son séjour à Pittsburgh ait été bref, Wilson garde un bon souvenir de son passage. <\/p>

« Pittsburgh a été un bon endroit pour moi, mec. Ça m’a aidé à me régénérer, à tous les niveaux : par l’ambiance du vestiaire, le professionnalisme, des gars comme T.J. Watt et Cam Heyward », a-t-il confié à la légende NBA Carmelo Anthony, dans le podcast de ce dernier. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Même s’il n’a pas marqué l’histoire des Steelers comme le quarterback l’avait fait avec les Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson a tenu à féliciter l’organisation, citant en particulier Miles Killebrew, Calvin Austin III, Najee Harris, et Dan Moore Jr.. Mais c’est surtout le coach Mike Tomlin qui a retenu son attention. <\/p>

« Un gars de Virginie, noir, entraîneur, et très accompli. C’était vraiment spécial d’être proche de lui, d’observer sa mentalité et sa façon de penser. Il me rappelle beaucoup Pete Carroll sur ce point. » <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Le quarterback expérimenté a souligné la discipline et la détermination de Tomlin, qu’il a qualifié de « l’un des meilleurs entraîneurs de tous les temps ». <\/p>

Lors de son passage à Pittsburgh, Russell Wilson a disputé 11 matchs de saison régulière, en remportant six, lançant pour 2 482 yards, 16 touchdowns, et seulement cinq interceptions.<\/p>

Une nouvelle compétition à New York<\/h3>

Désormais chez les Giants, Wilson entre en compétition pour le poste de titulaire avec le vétéran Jameis Winston et le rookie Jaxson Dart. Même si la bataille n’est pas encore officiellement tranchée, l’ancien joueur des Seahawks, Steelers et Broncos a reçu un signe très encourageant ce mercredi 28 mai. <\/p>

Selon Jordan Raanan d’ESPN<\/a>, Wilson a pris la majorité des snaps avec l’équipe première lors du premier entraînement ouvert de l’intersaison. Son contrat, d’une durée d’un an, est valorisé à 10,5 millions de dollars, un montant lié à des primes de performance et à ses apparitions, d’après Albert Breer de Sports Illustrated<\/a>.<\/p>
