À peine arrivé chez les New York Giants lors de la dernière draft NFL 2025<\/a>, le quarterback Jaxson Dart, se heurte déjà à un dilemme qui concerne beaucoup de joueurs au moment de l’arrivée en NFL: son numéro de maillot. Habitué au n°2 qu’il arborait fièrement à Ole Miss, le jeune quarterback devra faire une croix sur ce chiffre fétiche… du moins pour l’instant.<\/p>

La raison ? Le cornerback Deonte Banks, désormais propriétaire du fameux numéro, l’a récupéré après avoir cédé son n°3 à la recrue star Russell Wilson, arrivé en provenance de Denver. Et visiblement, Deonte Banks n’a pas spécialement envie de changer pour la deuxième fois de numéro de maillot en quelques semaines seulement. Dart a évidemment de son côté envisagé de récupérer le numéro 2, mais la négociation s’est avérée infructueuse. « C’était trop cher », a-t-il admis, avec un sourire en coin, dans une interview accordée à Cllct Media<\/em>.<\/p>

En attendant de se décider, Jaxson Dart porte le numéro 6 lors des entraînements de printemps. Une transition qui reste provisoire puisque le jeune quarterback ne s’est pas encore fixé sur son choix: <\/p>

« Je crois que je dois encore regarder quelques photos pour savoir si j’aime mon look avec ce numéro », a-t-il déclaré lors du minicamp des rookies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

Derrière cette anecdote vestimentaire se cache un enjeu d’image. Le numéro de maillot fait partie intégrante de l’identité d’un joueur, surtout lorsqu’il entre dans la NFL avec les projecteurs braqués sur lui. À 22 ans, Dart arrive avec de solides références : il a lancé pour 3 364 yards et 30 touchdowns en 2024 avec Ole Miss. Même s’il ne devrait pas jouer comme titulaire dès cette saison, sauf blessure de Russell Wilson, Jaxson Dart pourrait être l’un des quarterbacks d’avenir de la franchise des New York Giants.<\/p>

Deuxième quarterback sélectionné cette année lors de la draft, derrière Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart doit maintenant faire ses preuves pour prouver qu’il peut être une solution à long terme au problème de quarterback chez les Giants. À défaut de son numéro préféré, il compte bien marquer les esprits autrement : sur le terrain. Et c’est sans doute cela le plus important!<\/p>
