Les soucis de blessures des Yankees de New York se poursuivent, alors que le vétéran Paul Goldschmidt, joueur de première base, a quitté la rencontre de lundi contre les Blue Jays de Toronto après seulement deux passages au bâton en raison de douleurs persistantes au dos. Âgé de 37 ans, Goldschmidt souffre de ce problème depuis plusieurs jours mais a tenu à rassurer sur sa disponibilité pour le Jour d’Ouverture.<\/p>

“Aucune inquiétude,”<\/em> a déclaré Goldschmidt après la défaite des Yankees 6-5 au TD Ballpark. “Ce n’était pas pire aujourd’hui, mais avec une semaine avant le début de la saison, il était plus prudent de jouer la sécurité.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

La décision de le retirer est intervenue après deux longues manches qui l’ont contraint à rester debout sur le terrain pendant une période prolongée. Le manager des Yankees, Aaron Boone, a indiqué que cet élément avait influencé le choix de le sortir plus tôt, minimisant toutefois la gravité du problème.<\/p>

“Je ne pense pas que ce soit trop sérieux,”<\/em> a affirmé Boone. Cependant, compte tenu du printemps marqué par les blessures pour les Yankees, toute nouvelle alerte suscite des inquiétudes.<\/p>

Goldschmidt était déjà prévu pour être au repos mardi après avoir joué deux jours consécutifs, mais Boone s’attend à le voir de retour dans l’alignement mercredi soir contre les Braves d’Atlanta.<\/p>

Les blessures ont durement frappé les Yankees ce printemps, notamment leur rotation de lanceurs. De plus, l’équipe entamera la saison sans Giancarlo Stanton<\/a><\/strong> et DJ LeMahieu<\/a><\/strong> (élongation du mollet), ce qui mettra à l’épreuve la profondeur de l’effectif.<\/p>

Goldschmidt a été l’un des frappeurs les plus productifs des Yankees durant l’entraînement de printemps, affichant une moyenne de .313 avec un OPS de 1.077 en 13 matchs.<\/p>

“Il s’agissait davantage de gérer la situation que de forcer,”<\/em> a conclu Goldschmidt. “Avec la saison qui approche, il n’y a aucune raison de prendre des risques inutiles.”<\/em><\/p>
