Pour tous les amoureux de NFL, le trophée Vince Lombardi est un monument. Ce trophée, remis chaque année depuis près de 60 ans au vainqueur du Super Bowl, est le plus convoité dans le monde du football américain. Cependant, l’entraîneur iconique des New England Patriots, Bill Belichick a proposé une idée cette semaine: renommé le trophée Vince Lombardi en trophée « Tom Brady ».<\/p>

Pourquoi diable ferait-on un tel changement? D’après Bill Belichick, donner le nom d’un entraîneur au trophée remis au vainqueur du Super Bowl n’est pas une bonne idée. Pour rappel, le trophée Vince Lombardi<\/a> porte ce nom en hommage au célèbre entraîneur des Green Bay Packers qui a remporté les deux premiers Super Bowl. Mais pour Bill Belichick, ce sont les joueurs qui doivent être mis en avant, pas les entraîneurs:<\/p>

« Ce sont les joueurs qui font gagner les matchs. Vous ne pouvez pas gagner sans avoir de grands joueurs » a affirmé Bill Belichick dans le podcast Let’s Go<\/a>. « Pour ma part, je n’ai jamais fait un plaquage, jamais lancé un ballon. Je n’ai même pas mis de coups de pied dans un ballon. Les entraîneurs ne sont rien sans les grands joueurs. Ils ont appelé ce trophée le trophée Vince Lombardi. Peut-être faudrait-il le renommer le trophée Tom Brady. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>

C’est une idée! Une idée qui ne sera sans doute pas adopter avant de très nombreuses années mais une idée qui a le mérite de faire parler d’elle. Une idée qui a du sens si l’on considère qu’il faut récompenser le joueur qui a le plus gagné ce trophée. Mais que faire lorsqu’un autre joueur viendra battre son record? En tout état de cause, que les puristes se rassurent. Lors du Super Bowl LIX, c’est bien le trophée Vince Lombardi qui sera remis dans les mains des Kansas City Chiefs ou des Philadelphie Eagles. <\/p>
