Drafté par Houston il y a quelques mois, Kamari Lassiter compte bien voler des places pour sa saison rookie.<\/h2>

Kamari Lassiter jouera sa première saison en NFL cette année. Mais cela n’empêche pas le rookie d’être ambitieux et de vouloir décrocher une place de titulaire dès maintenant. Même s’il sera en concurrence avec deux vétérans, le jeune cornerback n’a pas froid aux yeux.<\/p>

Une place pour trois<\/h3>

Chez les Houston Texans, Derek Stingley Jr sera titulaire cette saison, mais l’identité du second cornerback n’est pas encore connue. Kamari Lassiter va devoir se battre avec Jeff Okudah et CJ Henderson, deux vétérans qui comptent chacun cinq ans d’expérience.<\/p>

Pourtant, celui qu’on appelle « le Serrurier » n’a aucun complexe vis-à-vis de cette concurrence.<\/p>

« C’est qui je suis. J’ai l’impression d’être arrivé et d’avoir montré qui je suis, et c’est le genre de personne que je suis, je suis le serrurier. Je veux verrouiller les choses où que je sois. », a-t-il déclaré au site web de sa franchise<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>

Cette confiance en lui n’empêche pas Kamari Lassiter<\/a> d’être conscient du travail qu’il a à réaliser. Au contraire, cela constitue une motivation pour lui à s’imposer dans sa nouvelle franchise.<\/p>

« Je pense que pour arriver au point où je veux vraiment être, j’ai un long chemin à parcourir. J’ai beaucoup à apprendre et beaucoup à travailler. Je veux être bien meilleur. La première chose que vous voulez faire en tant que jeune joueur, en tant que recrue arrivant dans une nouvelle organisation (et) une nouvelle atmosphère, c’est de faire vos preuves et de gagner le respect de vos coéquipiers et de vos entraîneurs. C’est quelque chose sur lequel je me concentre vraiment. Je veux gagner le respect de tout le monde dans le bâtiment avant qu’il soit temps de jouer. Je veux être un étudiant du jeu. »<\/p><\/blockquote>

Le cornerback a un état d’esprit qui plaît beaucoup à DeMeco Ryans, head coach des Texans.<\/p>

« Il est concentré et intense. On ne le remarque pas beaucoup parce qu’il fait toujours son travail. Il est toujours là où il doit être. Il est toujours en position. Il fait toujours ce qu’on lui demande de faire, et en tant que recrue, cela en dit long. Que ce soit en réunion ou sur le terrain, il est toujours concentré. »<\/p><\/blockquote>

Jeff Okudah et CJ Henderson sont également arrivés durant l’intersaison dans la franchise, mais eux en tant que free agents. Pour le moment, rien n’est décidé dans l’esprit du coaching staff, ce qui veut dire que Kamari Lassiter a totalement sa chance.<\/p>

Il peut gagner sa place durant le camp d’entraînement qui se déroule actuellement. S’il parvient à se montrer convaincant, il pourrait alors être titulaire dès la première semaine.<\/p>

La concurrence entre ces trois hommes promet d’être intense et ne peut que tirer la franchise vers le haut…<\/p>
