Un match sous controverse<\/strong><\/h3>Comme à son habitude depuis le début de la compétition, les USA sont très bien rentrés dans la rencontre avec un pressing haut, une envie de faire mal à cette équipe uruguayenne. Gregg Berhalter avait choisi d’évoluer en 4-4-2, laissant de côté son 4-3-3 habituel.<\/p>
Replaçant Christian Pulisic à la pointe de l’attaque avec Folarin Balogun. Un choix qui permettait notamment à Reyna d’être plus libre dans l’animation offensive. Mais malheureusement pour la bannière étoilée, difficile de concrétiser cette occupation du terrain et ces bonnes dispositions entrevues. D’autant plus que la principale force offensive du tournoi pour les États-Unis (Balogun) se blesse juste avant la mi-temps (remplacé par Pepi).<\/p>
En deuxième mi-temps, comme trop souvent, les USA n’arrivent plus à injecter cette intensité et laissent petit à petit l’Uruguay s’installer. Le match devient de plus en plus haché par des fautes et des coups de sifflet de l’arbitre.<\/p>
Ce qui n’aide pas franchement les coéquipiers de Weston McKennie. Et c’est peu après l’heure de jeu, sur un coup de pied arrêté, que Mathias Olivera ouvre le score pour l’Uruguay. Scénario cruel, les États-Unis sont à l’heure actuelle éliminé. Un but assez controversé à la suite des angles de caméra assez étranges qui ont permis à l’arbitre de prendre sa décision suite à l’appel du VAR.<\/p>
Ce but à couper les pieds aux américains, et ils n’ont jamais su revenir et apporter du réel danger sur le but de Rochet. Reste plus qu’à espérer que le Panama se prenne les pieds face à la Bolivie. Des espoirs très rapidement douchés puisque les Panaméens s’en sortent.<\/p>
Score final de la rencontre, 1-0 pour l’Uruguay. Les États-Unis sont officiellement sortis de cette Copa America 2024 avec une seule victoire. Décevant, quand on sait que dans deux ans, ils accueilleront la Coupe du Monde sur leur sol.<\/p>
