Kyrie Irving savait que Boston ne serait pas un environnement amical. Cela fait maintenant quelques années que c’est le cas.<\/a><\/h2>

Dès qu’il a touché le ballon pendant les échauffements jusqu’à son remplacement final à 5:17 de la fin du match, la foule du TD Garden a accueilli l’ancien guard des Celtics avec des huées incessantes.<\/p>\n

Les fans des Celtics n’étaient pas ravis de le voir, et vu la performance de Kyrie Irving<\/a> lors de la défaite des Mavericks lors du premier match des finales NBA jeudi, il n’était pas non plus très heureux d’être là.<\/p>\n

Kyrie Irving n’a marqué que 12 points et a manqué ses cinq tentatives de tir à trois points. Il a également commis trois pertes de balle, alors que les Celtics l’emportaient avec une victoire décisive de 107-89.<\/p>\n

Kyrie Irving a perdu chacun de ses 11 derniers matchs contre Boston, remontant à son passage avec les Brooklyn Nets en 2022.<\/p>\n

« Il y avait beaucoup d’émotions en jeu », a déclaré Kyrie Irving. « J’attendais l’opportunité de rivaliser contre une grande équipe des Celtics. Nous n’avons pas joué comme nous le voulions ce soir, et cela commence avec moi… Je dois assumer une certaine responsabilité. Ce n’est pas la première fois que je perds à Boston. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Pour les fans des Celtics, Irving est le méchant. « Pour Boston, tu es le méchant », a déclaré Luis Belacques, 25 ans, de Montréal, avant d’assister au match. « Cette marque restera à jamais. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Kyrie Irving et les Celtics ont une histoire tumultueuse. Il a rompu un engagement verbal de prolonger son séjour à Boston et a contrarié les fans des Celtics à plusieurs reprises après son départ, notamment en piétinant le logo au centre du terrain, en brûlant de la sauge sur le parquet avant un match et en faisant des gestes obscènes aux fans.<\/p>\n

Irving a également allégué un « racisme subtil » dans les commentaires qu’il a reçus de la part des spectateurs du TD Garden.<\/p>\n

L’octuple All-Star NBA semble s’être réinventé à Dallas, mais Boston s’en moque éperdument. C’est un public qui adore un méchant  et c’est un rôle que Kyrie Irving semble destiné à jouer encore longtemps.<\/p>\n

« J’espère qu’il se fera huer. Comme, vraiment beaucoup huer », a déclaré Josh Ouellette, de Caribou, Maine, avant le match. « C’est ce qu’il mérite. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Les difficultés d’Irving lors du premier match ont été une surprise pour un joueur de playoffs aussi expérimenté.<\/p>\n

Champion NBA en 2016, Irving a une moyenne de plus de 23 points par match avec un pourcentage de tir de 46 % en playoffs depuis 2019. Il n’a tiré à moins de 32 % que deux fois en match de playoffs depuis 2019.<\/p>\n

« C’est du basket à la fin de la journée », a déclaré Irving. « Je suis habitué à (l’environnement de Boston) à ce stade. Je m’attends à la même chose lors du deuxième match, avec la foule essayant de me sortir de mon élément. Je dois rester calme et confiant. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Bien sûr, Kyrie Irving n’était pas le seul à avoir des difficultés jeudi. Les Mavericks ont marqué leur plus bas total de points des playoffs avec seulement 89 points.<\/p>\n

Les Celtics ont réussi autant de blocs que les Mavericks ont eu de passes décisives. Luka Doncic, jouant son premier match de finales NBA, a commis quatre pertes de balle malgré ses 30 points, le plus haut total du match.<\/p>\n

« Ce ne sont pas les huées, ce ne sont pas les tirs manqués », a déclaré Kyrie Irving. « C’est plutôt notre attitude et la façon dont nous abordons chaque possession. Je n’ai pas eu les meilleurs matchs offensivement pendant ces playoffs… mais maintenant, c’est à nous de traverser cela ensemble. »<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n
